Son La: Over 19,000 students begin the 10th grade entrance exam.

On June 1st, more than 19,000 students participated in the high school entrance exam for 10th grade at 44 testing locations across Son La province, marking the first day of the exam.

According to observations, from the morning of June 1st, at 44 examination centers in Son La province, candidates were brought to the examination sites early by their parents. The cool weather was one of the advantages that helped motivate the students to enter the examination room and perform better on the exam.

In the high school graduation exam For the 2026-2027 school year's 10th grade entrance exam, 19,048 candidates in Son La province registered to take the exam at high schools, ethnic boarding schools, and Continuing Education Centers, an increase of 1,378 candidates compared to the previous year.

The Department of Education and Training of Son La province has established 44 examination centers with 817 examination rooms to serve the exam. The workforce involved in all stages of the exam is 3,856 people (compared to 3,200 people last year), an increase of 656 people, equivalent to 20.5%; of which, the total personnel serving at the examination centers is 2,852 people.

According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Chung, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Son La province, this year there is no regional zoning for admissions, so all candidates can choose to register for the schools they wish to apply to. The entrance exam for 10th grade high school in Son La took place over two days (from June 1st to June 2nd).

Candidates will take three compulsory subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and English. The Department of Education and Training has made thorough preparations, coordinating with local authorities, relevant agencies, and localities to ensure the best possible examination conditions for students.

According to regulations, students who register to apply to a particular school will take the entrance exam at that school. After the first round of admissions, unsuccessful candidates can register for a second choice at another school, provided their admission score is at least one point higher than the admission score of the school they are applying to.

For non-specialized high schools, candidates will take the Math and Literature exams on June 1st and the English exam on the morning of June 2nd. However, for admission to the 10th grade at Son La Specialized High School, in addition to the three common subjects set by the Department of Education and Training (Mathematics, Literature, and English), candidates will take an additional specialized subject exam on the afternoon of June 2nd.

For Chu Van An Primary, Secondary, and High School, admissions are conducted through a selection process organized by Tay Bac University in accordance with regulations. This year's exam questions were prepared by the Examination Board of the Department of Education and Training, ensuring that the core knowledge covered is within the 9th grade secondary school curriculum and aligns with the student competency assessment approach.
