By the end of 2023, SpaceX had conducted a total of 94 rocket launches, including 63 launches to put Starlink satellites into orbit, which is also a big step up from the record of 61 launches set a year earlier.
SpaceX has conducted two launches since the beginning of 2024. |
SpaceX is planning to set a new record of exceeding the 100 mark in 2024, specifically 144 launches. Billionaire Elon Musk's company can achieve this ambition, having previously done many things that seemed impossible in the history of spaceflight.
SpaceX’s historic ambition is to rapidly deploy its Starlink satellite internet network. The pace of Starlink development is expected to accelerate dramatically this year, reflecting changes in the low-Earth orbit (LEO) internet market. SpaceX is taking full advantage of its competitors thanks to its ownership of reusable Falcon 9 rockets.
However, the number of direct competitors to Elon Musk's SpaceX in this field is increasing. Amazon's Kuiper subsidiary and billionaire Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin are both planning to launch similar rocket and Internet products.
SpaceX will increase its launch rate to about 12 per month, according to Bill Gerstenmaier, SpaceX’s vice president of construction and flight reliability. SpaceX has also conducted two launches since the beginning of 2024, aiming to reach its goal of 144 launches per year.
