During his official visit to the Republic of Senegal, on the afternoon of July 22 local time, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Senegal. Also attending the meeting was Vice President of the Senegalese National Assembly Samba Dang.
According to VNA special correspondent, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria and Senegal Tran Quoc Khanh said that there are currently about 3,000 Vietnamese and people of Vietnamese origin in Senegal. Although small, the community is always close-knit, united, and oriented towards the homeland and the country. The fact that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation met with the people right after arriving in Senegal is a vivid and clear expression of the attention that the Party and State leaders have for the Vietnamese community in Senegal, and is a great source of encouragement for the people as well as the staff and staff of the Embassy.
The representative of the Organization of Vietnamese Senegalese (Kim Hoi) expressed his joy at Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic development in recent times, expressing his desire to be a "bridge" connecting the two nations, promoting Vietnamese culture in Senegal, and contributing to strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two countries in the coming time.
Emphasizing that Vietnam has great potential and strengths in agricultural and food processing and rice production, Kim Hoi representative proposed that Vietnam support Senegal in this field. Kim Hoi representative also proposed that the two countries promote exchange and twinning activities in the field of education and training; create conditions for the Vietnamese community in Senegal to preserve and promote national cultural traditions...
Delighted and moved to visit and meet the Vietnamese community in Senegal during his working trip to Senegal, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and National Assembly of Vietnam, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent his best wishes and warmest greetings to all the people, officials and staff of the Embassy.
On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the Vietnamese community in Senegal.
The National Assembly Chairman said that this official visit to the Republic of Senegal was at the invitation of the President of the Senegalese National Assembly, Malick Ndiaye. The visit is of great significance in enhancing political trust, further deepening the good friendship and cooperation between the two countries, creating a strong impetus to expand bilateral relations in many fields, for the development and prosperity of both peoples.
During the visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will hold talks with the President of the Senegalese National Assembly and meet with the President and Prime Minister of Senegal. The two National Assembly Chairmen will also co-chair a legal policy seminar on promoting cooperation in agriculture, trade and investment.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Senegalese National Assembly will sign a Cooperation Agreement, creating a legal framework for further strengthening relations between the two legislative bodies.
Informing the people about the situation of the country, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that after 40 years of Renovation, Vietnam has achieved many achievements in socio-economic development.

GDP size reaches over 470 billion USD, average income per capita is about 4,700 USD. In 2024 alone, Vietnam's economy will achieve an impressive growth rate of 7.09%, far exceeding the average of the ASEAN region and is highly appreciated by international organizations, achieving and exceeding 15/15 targets.
In the first six months of 2025, despite many difficulties and challenges in the world and in the country, with the efforts of the entire Party, army and people, Vietnam still achieved a growth rate of about 7.52%, among the high growth groups in the region and the world. To achieve the target set for 2025, Vietnam is determined to achieve a growth target of 8.3-8.5% from now until the end of the year.
With the participation of Government leaders, representatives of ministries, departments, branches and localities, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man pointed out that this is an opportunity for the two sides to exchange and strengthen cooperation in the fields of agriculture, telecommunications, science-technology, education-training... thereby further deepening the friendly relations between the two countries and two peoples.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the Party and State of Vietnam always consider the Vietnamese community abroad, including the Vietnamese community in Senegal, an inseparable part of the nation.
Over the years, many practical policies have been implemented to support our compatriots abroad. Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW of the Politburo on work with overseas Vietnamese, together with Directive 45-CT/TW, have affirmed the important role of our compatriots in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Appreciating Kim Hoi as a bridge connecting the two countries, the National Assembly Chairman hoped that Kim Hoi would increase information and exchange of domestic situations so that the Vietnamese community in Senegal could grasp them, including the revolution of streamlining the apparatus to be efficient, effective and effective, bringing the country into a new era, an era of national growth; at the same time, promoting the country and people of Vietnam to friends around the world, including the people of Senegal.
The National Assembly Chairman requested the Embassy's staff to further strengthen the care for the Vietnamese community in Senegal; promptly inform about the Party's guidelines, policies and guidelines for the Vietnamese community abroad such as Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW, Directive 45-CT/TW. The Embassy needs to connect with domestic units, especially the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to teach Vietnamese to the people; pay closer attention to creating favorable conditions in terms of legal basis as well as living and studying conditions for the Vietnamese community in the host country.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man wished the Vietnamese people to overcome all difficulties and challenges to stabilize their lives; and hoped that the National Assembly and Government of Senegal would continue to support the Vietnamese community in Senegal to integrate into the local society, contributing to the prosperity of Senegal and the Vietnam-Senegal friendship./.
