Polish officials announced in early April that they had delivered a number of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. Slovakia’s Defense Ministry also confirmed that all of the MiG-29 fighter jets it had pledged to provide had been delivered to Ukraine. The transfer began in March, with the first four aircraft flying to Ukrainian airports, while the remaining nine were dismantled and transported by road.

Slovakia did not specify the reason for the ground transportation, however, according to Defense News, the aircraft appear to be no longer operational due to a number of problems such as engine failure, control panels, and communication systems.

Sputnik quoted British media sources as saying that these planes could only be used to replace components. Ukraine, Poland and Slovakia did not comment on this information.

The United States and its Western allies and partners are accelerating military aid to support Ukraine’s counteroffensive. These countries have only agreed to provide Kiev with Soviet-made MiG-29 fighter jets and have refused to provide modern fighter jets. They have also begun delivering tanks to Ukraine.

However, military experts say that Western main battle tanks will not be able to impact the Russia-Ukraine war situation.

First, these are modern weapons that require training time to operate. In addition, these tanks also need maintenance and need to meet complex logistical conditions.
