Starfield surpasses 12 million players

The sci- fi role-playing game Starfield is Bethesda's biggest launch to date. After launching on Xbox Series X and Series S; xCloud; Microsoft Windows on September 6, 2023, Starfield attracted 6 million players in just one week, 10 million players on September 20, and 11 million players by the end of October this year, according to a report by Microsoft Chief Business Officer Satya Nadella.

At the Comic Book and Multi-Genre Entertainment Conference (CCXP 2023) held in Brazil from November 30 to December 3, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer revealed more information that excited Starfield fans: "Starfield is amazing. One of the special things about my job is that I get to play games while they're developing. In fact, I played Starfield around this time last year. You never know when something's going to be successful, but it's great to see Starfield succeed. In fact, Starfield has now had over 12 million players since launch and it's still in the top 10 most played games from our studios, so thank you everyone for supporting Starfield and making it a huge success."

Starfield always pleases players with suitable changes

When host Mari Palma asked if Starfield could have the longevity of Skyrim, Spencer replied: "That's our goal. You know, Skyrim is a big hit from Bethesda Game Studios. What the publisher really wants to do is give space lovers the opportunity to explore space. We also announced that the next expansion is coming soon, called Shattered Space. The gaming community will get all the modding tools to be able to create their own content in Starfield."

As previously reported, Starfield's mods will be released in 2024. There's no specific date yet, nor is there a release date for the Shattered Space expansion, but the Starfield-loving community is hoping to get some news about them at The Game Awards.

However, Starfield is unlikely to win "Action RPG of the Year"

Starfield won the "Xbox Game of the Year" award at the 2023 Golden Joystick Awards held in London (UK) on November 11. Starfield was also nominated in the Best RPG category at The Game Awards this year, although it will be difficult to surpass Baldur's Gate 3, the game that won "PC Game of the Year" at the recent Golden Joystick.
