On the afternoon of June 29, 2016 Nobel Prize in Physics Professor Duncan Haldane arrived in Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh) to attend a series of international scientific events held at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE).

He was one of the featured speakers at the Advanced School of Quantum Topological Materials, and spent time meeting and inspiring nearly 90 high school students at the international conference "From Mekong to Ocean: Connecting the Young Generation of LabelFrancÉducation High Schools".
This is the second time Professor Duncan Haldane has come to Quy Nhon City to attend scientific events at the ICISE Center. The first time was in 2022.
The international conference "From the Mekong to the Ocean: Connecting the Young Generation of LabelFrancÉducation High Schools" took place from June 29 to July 1 at ICISE, organized by the Rencontres du Vietnam in collaboration with the French Embassy in Vietnam. The event used French as the main language, bringing together students from 4 countries: France, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, sharing a passion for French and global issues.
This year's theme focuses on ocean and marine space conservation, in response to the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) held in France in early June. Not only an academic forum, the conference is also an opportunity for the young generation to explore , exchange cultures and raise awareness of challenges such as climate change, sustainable development and global citizenship.

Through discussion activities, field trips, cultural exchanges and especially the sharing session of Professor Duncan Haldane, the program contributes to "connecting the young generation" in the spirit of international friendship, respecting diversity and working towards the humanistic values of science and education.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, affirmed: "Binh Dinh always accompanies activities connecting the young generation through international cooperation in education and science. This is the foundation for forming a generation of global citizens with creative thinking, deep integration and a sense of responsibility for the future of the planet."
Mr. Olivier Brochet, Ambassador of the French Republic to Vietnam, spoke at the conference.

In parallel with this conference, the Advanced School on Quantum Topological Materials is also taking place at ICISE from June 30 to July 5. The program brings together nearly 40 scientists, young researchers, PhD and post-doctoral students from 10 countries. This is an in-depth academic forum organized by the Rencontres du Vietnam and ICISE in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics, aiming to promote research and international cooperation in the field of topological materials, an important branch of modern physics.
In addition to Professor Duncan Haldane, the summer school also has the participation of many leading names such as Professor Dam Thanh Son (University of Chicago, Dirac Medal 2018), Professor Yoshimasa Hidaka (Kyoto University, Medal for Elementary Particle Physics 2025), Associate Professor - Dr. Nguyen Tuan Hung (Tohoku University, Japan), Associate Professor - Dr. Bo Yang (Nanyang University of Technology, Singapore) and Associate Professor - Dr. Nguyen Xuan Dung (Institute of Basic Science, Korea)...
