According to the Vietnam Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (VAMM), which includes five brands: Honda, Yamaha, Piaggio, SYM, and Suzuki, most motorcycle models are compatible with E10 bioethanol fuel and do not require any technical modifications.
For Suzuki motorcycles specifically, all models are compatible and technically unchanged, except for the following models: Viva 110, Smash, Smash Revo, Shogun, Amity, AN125, GN125, Hayate, EN150, UA125, and GD110.
VAMM fully agrees with the direction of expanding the use of E10 gasoline, but it should be noted that gasoline used for vehicles must meet the quality standards corresponding to the vehicle's emission standards.
Regarding vehicles compatible with E10 gasoline, the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) stated that its preliminary assessment indicates that currently manufactured models are compatible with E10 gasoline. However, VAMA is concerned about older models, produced before E10 gasoline became widespread, which were not designed to be compatible with it. These models may experience operational issues when using E10 gasoline.
According to information from a VAMA member company, the light truck model manufactured by their company since 1996 is not compatible with E10 gasoline. Production of this model ceased in 2023, and to date, more than 60,000 of these vehicles have been sold on the market.
In addition, several other manufacturers are currently reviewing all of their past vehicle models to compile the number and assess the impact of E10 fuel on the operation of these vehicles.
Upon review, all manufacturers have come to the common conclusion that some models manufactured before 2006 are not compatible with E10 gasoline.
VAMA supports the government 's policy of expanding the sale of E10 RON95 bioethanol fuel to minimize environmental pollution. However, in its feedback session in August 2025, VAMA argued that immediately selling 100% E10 fuel on the market would negatively impact people who own older vehicles that are not compatible with E10 fuel.
Therefore, this association proposes selling E10 gasoline alongside conventional gasoline, as well as stepping up public awareness campaigns so that people with compatible vehicles can proactively switch to using E10 bio-gasoline.
In addition, VAMA also proposed strict quality control of E10 gasoline at all stages: from blending, storage, transportation, and distribution. The use of E10 RON95 gasoline requires a minimum emission standard of Euro 4 to comply with the Prime Minister 's requirement to apply this standard from January 1, 2017, and level 5 from January 1, 2022, for newly manufactured, assembled, and imported automobiles.
