(PLVN) - Phong Nha cave system is located in the heart of the giant limestone mountain of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park (in Phong Nha town, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province). It is known as “Thien Nam De Nhat Dong” because it holds many world records.

With a length of nearly 8km, Phong Nha cave system still has a lot of tourism potential and cultural values that have not been fully exploited. Currently, coming to this cave system, visitors will be able to explore typical caves such as: Tien cave, Cung Dinh cave and Bi Ky cave. |

Tien Cave is one of three caves being exploited by Phong Nha – Ke Bang Tourism Center. Tien Cave means “fairyland” which impresses visitors from the first steps into the cave. The geological transformation process has created majestic but no less smooth cliffs. People liken it to the hair of a fairy hanging down in the cave. |

Connected to Tien cave in the Phong Nha cave system is Cung Dinh cave, one of the most characteristic caves with a system of stalactites, underground lakes, sandbanks and reefs. Named "Cung Dinh" because when entering the cave, visitors will admire the stalactites shaped like the thrones of ancient kings. |

In particular, Cung Dinh Cave owns a giant stalactite shaped like a bell. Images of this stalactite are also displayed at the current UNESCO headquarters in Paris (France). |

Phong Nha Cave also holds the record for the cave with the most beautiful sandbank, reef and underground lake. Because it is located in a limestone cave, the underground water here is as clear as jade. |

The Bi Ky cave branch is about 1km long and is located in the Phong Nha cave system, which contains many special historical relics. “Bi” means stone, “Ky” means writing, meaning “writing on the cliff”. Since the end of the 19th century, the cave has been researched, surveyed and discovered by a French priest named Lesopold Cadière. |

Deep inside the cave, there are many traces of Cham culture such as altars, stone statues, tablets... Especially, there are 97 ancient characters carved on layers of stalactites. |

To date, these characters have not been fully translated and decoded, and the time period can only be determined to be from the early 11th century. |

Bi Ky Cave is also known as “Hoi Truong” Cave, because this place used to be the meeting place for Truong Son soldiers when they were on duty on Route 20 Quyet Thang during the resistance war against the US to save the country. This place still preserves many vestiges of Uncle Ho’s soldiers. |

The rest of Bi Ky cave is covered in darkness, inspiring many visitors to conquer. This area has many dangerous sinkholes, visitors who want to explore must be fully equipped with safety equipment. |
