According to the report of the General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ), the total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue at current prices in June 2025 were estimated at VND 570,200 billion, down slightly by 0.2% compared to the previous month and up 8.3% over the same period last year. In general, in the first 6 months of 2025, the total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue at current prices were estimated at VND 3,416 trillion, up 9.3% over the same period last year. These figures show that the purchasing power of the economy continues to recover after COVID-19 as well as show the great potential of the Vietnamese retail market.
According to analysis by global data and measurement analytics company Nielsen IQ, 2025 is opening a new promising chapter for the Vietnamese consumer market. Nielsen IQ pointed out that one of the most important boosts is the decision to reduce value-added tax (VAT) from 10% to 8%. This is not only good news for consumers when shopping costs decrease, but also a driving force for businesses to boost business and expand the market. The consumer picture also reveals a remarkable trend, Vietnam will have 3.8 million more people joining the consumer class in 2025.
