Join hands to eliminate temporary housing
In recent days, in all localities in the province, the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has been taking place vigorously with a high spirit of determination. Everywhere, there has been great cooperation from socio -political organizations and people of all walks of life. In addition to financial support, with the spirit of "mutual love", sharing, each house that is repaired or rebuilt also has the support of neighbors, organizations, and forces: police, border guards, militia, etc. This is a clear demonstration of the spirit of great national unity. That spirit has created the strength for Lai Chau to accelerate the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.
With the spirit of solidarity, social responsibility, and joining hands for the community, the Provincial Police force has registered with the Provincial Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses (Provincial Steering Committee) in 2025 to support the construction of 610 houses for people (110 houses with funding contributed by officers and soldiers and other socialized sources, 500 houses with funding supported by the Ministry of Public Security ).
Colonel Sung A Sua - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police Department said: In order to join hands, the Provincial Police force has contributed thousands of working days, launching a "70-day-night" emulation campaign to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. "Serving the people", regardless of the sun or rain, officers and soldiers closely follow the construction site, inspect and supervise the quality and progress of the construction and make efforts to organize the handover on schedule so that people can have solid and cozy houses.
Villagers and organizations contributed working days to help Mr. Hoang Van Kem's family (Chom Chang village, Than Thuoc commune, Tan Uyen district) demolish their temporary house.
It is known that, to ensure "correct, accurate and not missed", the review and assessment of the subjects in need of support is carried out regularly. Along with that, thanks to good propaganda work, it has created unity and high consensus in the entire political system and all classes of people about this meaningful and humane program. According to the assessment of the Provincial Steering Committee, some localities have done a good job of launching emulation movements and mobilizing resources for implementation, with many good and creative ways to help speed up the implementation progress. Proactively grasp and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process. As of May 14, 2025, the whole province has supported the construction of 6,384 houses (5,352 newly built houses, 1,032 repaired houses), of which: 3,249 houses have been completed; 3,135 houses are being implemented.
Focus on the finish line
There are only 40 days left to complete the program while the number of houses under construction is still quite large, the number of houses not yet under construction is up to 1,105. This is a large amount of work requiring acceleration and outstanding efforts from the province and sectors and localities in concentrating all resources, speeding up the implementation progress to ensure both quality and progress.
One of the difficulties of the province is that many households do not have the funds to implement, the total funding is still lacking tens of billions of VND. Regarding this, recently, at the 4th meeting of the Central Steering Committee to implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, comrade Le Van Luong - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Prime Minister and ministries and branches pay attention and support the province with funds to promptly allocate to the grassroots. Along with that, the province directed localities to review the remaining funding needs that have not been allocated, synthesize proposals to advance funding sources to organize the implementation to ensure the set goals. Notably, on May 16, in order to have more resources, the Provincial People's Committee continued to launch a movement to join hands to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. Accordingly, calling on and mobilizing agencies, units, businesses, organizations, and people inside and outside the province to continue to respond and actively participate in supporting Lai Chau in eliminating temporary houses.
It is now the rainy season, and it is determined that construction and material transportation in some localities will be very difficult. Therefore, the Provincial Steering Committee requests the Steering Committees of districts and cities to be more resolute in directing the implementation of the program, closely monitoring the progress of implementation, and promptly resolving difficulties and problems at the grassroots level.
Officers and soldiers of the Political Department (Provincial Police) hand over houses to poor households in Nam Xe commune (Phong Tho district).
The Provincial Steering Committee also pointed out solutions for each subject and required localities to closely follow their implementation. In particular, for households that have completed: speed up the disbursement and payment of support funds; review and support the completion of land procedures. For households that are implementing, localities will proactively grasp the situation, urge the mobilization of support forces, promptly remove difficulties and obstacles to speed up the completion progress. For households that have not yet implemented, focus on mobilizing all resources to organize the implementation as soon as possible, determine the completion roadmap, and ensure completion before June 25, 2025.
These days, localities and units are highly concentrating their forces, assigning and regulating human resources to support house building. The implementation atmosphere is bustling and widespread from the city to the highland villages, everyone is making efforts to help their people have more solid roofs before the peak of the rainy season. In Tan Uyen district, in Than Thuoc commune, although it is past noon, the commune leaders and organizations are still at the grassroots level to inspect, urge and directly roll up their sleeves to help people build houses. We met comrade Nguyen Huu Thuc - Party Secretary, Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Than Thuoc commune in Chom Chang village. His face covered in sweat, he shared: With an urgent atmosphere, the commune arranged cadres to be on duty to implement the program even on holidays; care to support and guide people with materials to build houses, reinforce foundations... Of the 39 houses, the commune has completed 25 houses, the remaining houses are more than 80% complete. The commune is focusing on striving to complete the demolition of temporary houses on schedule.
To accelerate the finish line, following the direction of Comrade Giang Pao My - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee at the meeting of the Provincial Steering Committee held on the afternoon of April 22, members of the Provincial Steering Committee closely follow the locality and field; regularly inspect, urge, and guide the grassroots to implement on schedule and with the right subjects. Closely coordinate with departments, branches, and sectors to advise the Steering Committee to remove difficulties and handle arising issues. Districts and cities focus highly, assign specific tasks, ensure the right people, the right jobs to reach the program's finish line before June 25, 2025.
Every day, many new houses are completed, adding to the joy of poor households. Despite many difficulties, with high political determination, solidarity and consensus of the entire political system and the people, Lai Chau will certainly complete the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, helping people settle down.
