The power of the ideology of national unity.

Following the merger, the new Tay Ninh province not only expanded its administrative boundaries but also placed higher demands on cohesion within the political system, especially the core role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF). Maintaining a continuous flow of unity between different regions and social strata in a larger geographical area with a larger population and more diverse socio-cultural characteristics is one of the important tasks that the VFF at all levels is striving to accomplish.

Strengthening dialogue

In the context of territorial mergers, the demand for unity and consensus in society is higher than ever. The Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organizations in the province are constantly innovating their methods, diversifying propaganda approaches, strengthening dialogue, supervision, social criticism, and building community-building models to connect the trust, will, responsibility, and aspirations for development of the entire nation.

In the first months of 2025, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province proactively adhered to political tasks, concretizing action programs, contributing to consolidating the great national unity. From urban areas to border regions, rural areas, and areas with large religious populations, the role of connecting with and accompanying the people became increasingly clear, substantive, and flexible.

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan An Ward, Nguyen Chi Tam, said: “Before and after the merger, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward and its member organizations have always proactively grasped the situation, listened to opinions from the grassroots to guide public opinion and create social consensus. We innovated the forms of propaganda, utilized digital transformation, deployed community fanpages and Zalo groups between the Standing Committee and the Front Work Committees of the neighborhoods to disseminate policies and promptly refute false information. Simultaneously, the Front focused on maintaining and improving models and activities such as community monitoring, building litter-free residential areas, mobilizing resources to build solidarity houses, organizing a month-long campaign for the poor, etc., in order to maintain cohesion, solidarity, and mutual support within the community.”

The Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations in Tan An ward are implementing activities to support people in resolving administrative procedures after the merger.

In conjunction with promoting the Party Congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Party Congress, the ward focuses on mobilizing the "For the Poor" Fund, caring for poor households and families entitled to preferential policies, and responding to the emulation movement "For the Poor - Leaving No One Behind". At the same time, it promotes environmental protection activities, responds to climate change, encourages people to participate in health insurance and social insurance, and cares for children.

The ward has also effectively implemented policies of "showing gratitude and repaying kindness," and "supporting the military," maintaining political security and social order, and protecting national sovereignty and border security in the new situation. Social supervision and criticism have been strengthened, aiming to build a government that is close to the people, listens to the people, and acts for the people.

The Tay Ninh parish, belonging to the Phu Cuong diocese, has a total population of approximately 46,000. In recent years, with the support of the government, major religious holidays have been celebrated solemnly and respectfully, which strengthens the faith of the parishioners in the Party's policies and guidelines, and the State's laws and regulations.

Humanity and compassion are among the beautiful values of religion, and the spirit of solidarity is clearly demonstrated. The Tay Ninh diocese has built hundreds of charitable houses and solidarity houses, and given gifts to the poor during Christmas and Lunar New Year, totaling billions of dong.

“The Vietnam Fatherland Front is a political alliance, a voluntary union of political organizations, socio-political organizations, social organizations, and outstanding individuals from all social classes, strata, ethnic groups, religions, and Vietnamese people residing abroad. Over the past period, imbued with Ho Chi Minh's ideology and the Party's guidelines and policies on achieving national unity, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Tay Ninh province has effectively fulfilled its role in gathering and uniting religions and ethnic groups in the province, acting as a ‘bridge’ between the Party and the State and the people of all ethnic groups and religions, protecting their legitimate rights and interests, and carrying out exemplary activities to care for ethnic and religious communities,” – a leader of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tay Ninh province stated before the merger of Tay Ninh and Long An.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tay Ninh province (formerly) organized delegations to visit and present gifts to ethnic groups and religions on the occasions of major festivals such as the Supreme Being's festival, the Feast of the Jade Pool Palace, the founding day, the inauguration ceremony, the summary of religious affairs, and the General Assembly of Cao Dai religion; Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving of Catholicism and Protestantism; Buddha's birthday, Vu Lan festival, and the commemoration of Emperor Tran Nhan Tong's entry into Nirvana of Buddhism; Raya Ramadhan and Maulid Nabi Mohamad of Islam; Chol Chnam Thmay and Sendolta festivals of the Khmer people, Saunco Khmun of the Ta Mun people, and the Lantern Festival of the Chinese people,... The Fatherland Front at all levels coordinated with functional agencies to organize many delegations to visit, congratulate, and present gifts to people of ethnic groups, organizations, and religious individuals.

The Fatherland Front regularly engages with ethnic and religious communities, especially religious leaders, clergy, village elders, and influential figures within these communities, to promptly understand their thoughts, aspirations, and difficulties in religious activities and daily life. From this, they promptly report to the Party committees and propose solutions to relevant State agencies, aiming to create a sense of security and trust among ethnic and religious communities.

Periodically, the Fatherland Front organizes conferences to engage with ethnic and religious communities, recording numerous opinions, suggestions, and proposals related to religious activities and the lives of ethnic minorities. These have been forwarded to the relevant authorities for resolution, achieving a 100% success rate and fostering trust and consensus among ethnic and religious communities in the province.

National unity, including religious unity, is a crucial requirement in the process of building and developing the country. The Party's viewpoint on religious unity at the 13th National Congress once again demonstrates this.

The Congress document advocates for "mobilizing, uniting, and gathering religious organizations, dignitaries, and followers to live 'good lives and virtuous conduct,' making positive contributions to the cause of national construction and defense. It ensures that religious organizations operate in accordance with the law and the charters and regulations recognized by the State. It resolutely combats and severely punishes those who exploit religion to oppose the Party, the State, and the socialist regime; to sow discord and undermine religious unity and the national unity bloc."

Religious unity is part of the overall effort to build and strengthen national unity. The Party's viewpoint on religious unity has consistently and creatively applied Ho Chi Minh's ideology of national unity in the new conditions and circumstances of the country.

In his speech at the National Conference of the Viet Lien Front (January 1969), President Ho Chi Minh stated: “Great unity means, first and foremost, uniting the vast majority of the people, and the vast majority of our people are workers, farmers, and other working classes. That is the foundation of great unity. It is like the foundation of a house, the root of a tree. But having a solid foundation and good roots, we must also unite other classes of people. Anyone who sincerely supports peace, unity, independence, and democracy, even if those people previously opposed us, we will now sincerely unite with them.”
