Intel's "Meteor Lake" processor, recently renamed "Core Ultra", will be launched on December 14, with a series of features such as impressive power, promising to enhance the user experience on upcoming laptop models. This is the first chip built on the "Intel 4" architecture (7 nm), integrating Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to enhance AI performance, reflecting Intel's future direction to meet the AI trend.

The Core Ultra is built on the company's FOVEROS 3D packaging technology, featuring all-new P and E cores, with a focus on saving as much power as possible, and on a performance-per-watt basis, graphics processing will be twice as fast.
In addition to supporting the NPU, the Core Ultra can also leverage its GPU and CPU for other AI tasks. However, Intel's new product will not support the company's recently announced Thunderbolt 5 standard, instead supporting Thunderbolt 4 and PCIe Gen5.

The biggest impression of Intel Core Ultra is the ability to play 8K resolution video smoothly, even when the video has a bit rate of 128 Mbps and HEVC decoder. This shows the compatibility of the processor with the latest display technology.
Intel also demonstrated the ability to play 1,080p video even with the CPU and GPU modules turned off. Intel Core Ultra used the low-power E core and the on-chip video decoder to play video for long periods of time, which is good news for users concerned about battery life on laptops.
