• DYNAMIC YOUTH IN EDUCATION
Mr. Nguyen Van Luong - Principal of Vo Nguyen Giap Secondary and High School (Vo Nguyen Giap School), Dam Rong District said that the school was established in 2020, including two levels: Secondary and High School with 7 grades, from grade 6 to grade 12, with approximately 700 students each year. "Our students come from many ethnic groups living in the area, including Kinh students, M'Nong, K'Ho students as well as some other ethnic minorities. These are also challenges that the management staff and teachers of Vo Nguyen Giap School must solve to ensure the quality of education, accompanying the students on the path of learning", Mr. Nguyen Van Luong shared. According to Mr. Luong, with approximately 50% of students belonging to ethnic minorities and economic life in general still facing many difficulties, the school's management staff and teachers have tried their best to help the students access knowledge.
“It must be said that Dam Rong is a remote area, students still face many disadvantages. In return, we have the enthusiasm of both teachers and students as well as great infrastructure support from theeducation sector. The school has been solidly built, spacious, with full functional rooms for biology - chemistry, information technology, physics, library - equipment as well as fully equipped with tools for practice rooms. In terms of facilities, Vo Nguyen Giap School has been invested quite fully, helping students a lot in accessing knowledge”, Mr. Luong proudly shared. To improve the quality of education, Vo Nguyen Giap School has streamlined the staff, improving the quality of teachers. The school currently has 44 people including 3 managers, 37 teachers, and 4 staff. Managers and civil servants all meet training standards, ensuring educational activities.
The school's teaching staff has approached the 2018 General Education Program through regular training. "Our teaching staff is a great source of pride for the school. Teachers regularly study and access new educational knowledge as well as educational orientations for students. In many subjects, despite being very young, Vo Nguyen Giap School is proud of its efforts to create quality education," Mr. Luong said proudly.
• GO TO CLASS WITH STUDENTS
“We always put the requirement that students continue to attend school as the school’s top priority. The school has worked closely with the Parents’ Association to maintain the number of students attending school. If just one student is absent on the first or second day, the homeroom teacher must report to the school to find a solution,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Luong. He confided that some students stay home to do gardening, some students are absent to get married, in these cases, the school coordinates with the Parents’ Association to visit the families to find out and persuade them to find a solution, helping them continue to go to school. “Vo Nguyen Giap School has had the “Each teacher attached to one student” movement launched by the school’s Trade Union for many years. Every year, the school selects at least two students from a class so that teachers can both give scholarships and pay special attention to their studies and lives. I myself have two scholarships for two students a year and the same goes for other teachers,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Luong.
"We also have some Hmong ethnic minority students from Sub-region 181 who live here and study," said teacher Nguyen Thi Ngo, a good Geography teacher. Teachers always have to pay attention to their studies and life, especially their health, because they are far from home, live near the school and only come home on weekends.
"To improve the quality of teaching and learning, the staff and teachers of Vo Nguyen Giap School always actively study and update new knowledge. The school has created conditions for teachers to study at a higher level, some teachers study for a master's degree", Mr. Nguyen Van Luong is very proud of his team. To meet the needs of modern education, Vo Nguyen Giap School strengthens the guidance of students to study in groups, requires students to increase communication, and improve their ability to work together. From the rate of 100% of students passing the high school graduation exam to excellent student competitions, the young school has had encouraging achievements. For example, the first prize in the provincial Geography competition for the 2023-2024 school year won by student Tran My Quyen, class 12A1, brought great pride to the teachers of the school," said teacher Nguyen Thi Ngo proudly. For a very young school like Vo Nguyen Giap School, the dedication of teachers, the cooperation of parents and the efforts of the students have contributed to building the stature of a vibrant school.
