The main outstanding activities at SURF 2025 attracted a large number of investors, startups, and delegates such as the Da Nang City Innovation Startup Competition; Meeting between the leaders of the People's Committee of Da Nang City with experts, speakers, investors and the startup community; Live exhibition of innovative startups; Launching the Innovation Network of universities and colleges in Da Nang City; Startupblink awarded the certificate of "Fastest growing ecosystem in Vietnam" to Da Nang City; Signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation and announcement of investment cooperation in innovative startups; Exchange with domestic and international experts; Discussion: Da Nang - Blockchain unicorn launch pad; International Innovation Investment Connection Forum "Blockchain and digital assets: Innovation in urban digital transformation and digital economic development in Da Nang".
The event was attended by Mr. Hoang Minh - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology . On behalf of Da Nang city, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Quang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Da Nang; Mr. Ho Quang Buu - Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong - Member of the City Party Committee, Director of the Department of Science and Technology; Mr. Pham Ngoc Sinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology - Head of the Organizing Committee of SURF 2025. Representatives from provinces/cities across the country, departments, branches, People's Committees of wards and communes, unions, business associations, start-ups, universities/colleges in the city, international organizations, investors and domestic and foreign startups attended.

In his opening speech, Mr. Ho Quang Buu - Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City shared: "Today's festival is an opportunity for us to connect knowledge, policies, technology and investment capital, creating a multilateral cooperation network, promoting innovation and startups. At the same time, this is also a place to nurture potential businesses, strongly spreading the message "Da Nang - where ideas are inspired, giving wings to unicorns to reach international level"."
Da Nang City is committed to continuing to improve the investment environment, perfecting the innovative startup ecosystem, and creating favorable conditions for businesses, organizations, and individuals to start up and develop sustainably.
SURF 2025 is an opportunity to summarize and convey messages about innovative startups in the city. The Danang City 2025 Innovation and Startup Competition attracted 31 participating teams. As a result, the project "LocalLife. Asia - Sustainable Community Tourism Platform" won the First Prize; the project "AIVOS" won the Second Prize. The Third Prize went to the project "Rally AI". The project "LotusEase - Semi-automatic fresh lotus seed shelling machine" won the Encouragement Prize.
The activity "Launching the Innovation Network of Universities and Colleges in Da Nang City" was also a highlight of this event. The Innovation Network of Universities and Colleges in Da Nang City was established with the goal of connecting universities and colleges in the area, promoting cooperation, sharing resources, spreading the spirit of innovation throughout the academic and startup community. This is a practical initiative to promote research activities, technology application, product development and knowledge transfer from schools to the market.
At the Opening Ceremony, the signing of a cooperation agreement between the People's Committee of Da Nang City and CT Group took place. This agreement aims to promote the sustainable and comprehensive development of Da Nang City through breakthrough initiatives and the application of advanced technology: Multi-layer digitalization technology of the ground and near-space - 15-layer Digital Copy, pilot operation of the Carbon Credit trading market in Da Nang; Cooperation in biotechnology (Ginseng, Medicinal herbs and rare genetic resources; Semiconductor industry, innovation).
Appreciating the efforts of Da Nang city in supporting innovative startups, Mr. Hoang Minh - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology commented: Da Nang has recently taken appropriate steps and achieved many positive results, forming and strongly developing an innovative startup ecosystem. Da Nang has been affirming its pioneering role in the innovative startup ecosystem in the Central Highlands and the whole country. In recent years, the city has issued and effectively implemented many specific policies; built technical facilities to serve startups, formed creative spaces, incubators in the High-Tech Park, Software Park No. 2; Strengthened support for universities, business promotion organizations, and startup communities with an open, dynamic and closely connected spirit. In particular, the city focuses on implementing groups of policies to support the development of innovative startups, tax exemptions and reductions, the development of semiconductor chips and the application of new technology testing according to Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly on the organization of urban government and piloting specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang. This is a great opportunity, opening up a new institutional space for the city to strongly develop science, technology and innovation.
It can be said that with the steps, achievements and determination of the city, it shows that Da Nang is a locality with great advantages and capabilities to develop and promote innovative start-up activities. The results of the assessment of the Local Innovation Index in 2024, Da Nang ranked 5th in the country and always led the North Central and Central Coast regions; The city has been honored as an Attractive City for Innovative Start-ups for 4 consecutive years. Notably, in 2025, Da Nang city has made a remarkable step forward in the ranking of global typical cities in terms of startup ecosystems according to the ranking of the StartupBlink Center for Research and Mapping of Global Startup Ecosystems, increasing 130 places and ranking 766th in the top 1,000 global typical cities.
With the achieved results, Da Nang is honored to be recognized by StartupBlink - a prestigious international organization specializing in mapping and analyzing global startup ecosystems as one of the 12 most dynamic ecosystems in the world and with the fastest growth rate in Vietnam in 2025.
Within the framework of the program, there is also a live exhibition of innovative startups, gathering more than 100 booths from localities such as Da Nang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai, Nghe An, Hung Yen, the UK and South Korea. The booths display technology products focusing on areas such as: Information technology, software; artificial intelligence (AI); Blockchain & Fintech; biotechnology - Environment - Healthcare - Tourism - Education; digital transformation, automation; furniture and material production; marketing, digital society; energy and recycling...
The Danang Innovation and Startup Festival - SURF is an annual event for the innovation and startup community in Danang city to promote the development of the innovation and startup ecosystem, create increasingly close links between the elements in the ecosystem and support startups to connect, seek business opportunities, promote products, services, investment and recruitment. With the theme "Policy Launchpad - Nurturing Unicorns" and the message "Da Nang - City of Innovation", SURF 2025 has many outstanding new features, connecting the domestic and international innovation and startup community, contributing to arousing a strong entrepreneurial spirit, encouraging the spirit of innovation in the community, especially young people and local businesses.
