Swire Coca-Cola Achieves Many Environmental Achievements

Swire Coca-Cola - the parent company of Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam Company Limited (Coca-Cola Vietnam Company) has just released its 2024 Sustainability Report, recognizing significant progress in environmental protection, product innovation and contributions to communities around the world.

The report reaffirms the commitment to sustainability that is deeply and broadly integrated into all of the company's business activities, under the strategic direction of "Our Choice, Our Future" based on 3 main pillars: Planet - Products - People.

The 2024 report shows that Swire Coca-Cola has made significant progress on its environmental sustainability journey. Specifically, the company has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 17% compared to 2023; at the same time, it has used 43% of its electricity from renewable sources in its core operations. Swire Coca-Cola has deployed 24,170 new generation energy-efficient refrigerators in Vietnam, contributing to improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

In the United States, Swire Coca-Cola is partnering with The Coca-Cola Company to implement three water reclamation projects, which are expected to recover 300 million liters of water per year. In addition, the company is promoting efforts to build a circular economy in packaging, with 31% recycled aluminum incorporated into product cans distributed in Asian markets.

Also in the US market, Coca-Cola products with low or no sugar accounted for 45% of sales, while in Hong Kong, the figure reached 59%, showing a strong effort to promote healthier lifestyle choices.

Swire Coca-Cola also demonstrates a long-standing commitment to people and communities. In terms of gender equality, women account for 26% of strategic leadership roles and 36% of operational leadership roles. Globally, Swire Coca-Cola employees have contributed more than 190,000 volunteer hours – an average of more than 5 hours per person – and the company has donated more than HK$28 million (equivalent to VND92.8 billion) and 264,300 cases of beverages to support disadvantaged communities.

In Vietnam, by integrating sustainable development as a key part of the company's 10-year strategy, we empower each employee to join hands to achieve environmental and social goals. Our commitment is not only to minimize environmental impacts, but also to create positive, sustainable and long-term values ​​for the community”.

With more than 30 years of operation in Vietnam, Coca-Cola Vietnam Company has always pioneered in innovating its product portfolio to meet consumer needs and integrate sustainability into the entire product life cycle.

The company is also actively collaborating with industry partners to build an effective packaging collection and recycling ecosystem in Vietnam. In addition, Coca-Cola Vietnam is transforming its production activities to be more environmentally friendly and aiming for zero net emissions by 2050, contributing to supporting the national green growth roadmap.

In addition to focusing on the environment, the company also invests heavily in sustainable community development programs. The EkoCenter project is one of the typical initiatives, with 8 centers operating nationwide, not only providing free clean drinking water but also serving as a community destination - hosting digital skills training programs, entrepreneurship, STEAM and AIeducation for women and children as well as environmental awareness campaigns.

These persistent efforts have helped Coca-Cola Vietnam Company to be honored in the Top 10 Sustainable Development FDI Enterprises in Vietnam in the period of 2024–2025 at the Golden Dragon Awards 2025. The Company was also ranked 2nd Sustainable Development Enterprise in 2024 (CSI 100) by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

In addition to business development and sustainability activities, Coca-Cola Vietnam Company is also recognized by the Ministry of Finance as one of the largest tax-paying enterprises in the country, ranked 109th in the list of V1000 Enterprises Paying High Corporate Income Tax in 2022 according to Official Dispatch No. 4586/TCT-KK in 2023./.
