Within the framework of the 11th International Conference of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network (GGN) held in the Republic of Chile from September 5 to 15, the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark was honored to receive the "UNESCO Global Geoparks Network Effective Operational Model" Award.
This is one of only five parks in the world to receive this prestigious award.
The 11th GGN conference brought together approximately 1,000 delegates, including representatives from UNESCO Global Geoparks, potential Geoparks, scientists , politicians, and administrators.
This forum serves as a platform for exchanging experiences and sharing effective models in the construction and development of geoparks according to UNESCO criteria, while also affirming the role of GGN in the conservation and promotion of heritage values associated with sustainable development.

At the conference, Cao Bang Geopark presented two papers: "Preserving traditional craft villages associated with sustainable tourism development" and "Preserving ethnic minority languages in the Cao Bang Geopark area," attracting the attention of many international delegates.
Furthermore, the park showcases cultural spaces with geological, cultural, and historical heritage, natural landscapes, tourist routes, and traditional handicrafts, contributing to spreading the image of Cao Bang's rich identity and opening up opportunities for cooperation and exchange of experience in managing and operating geoparks according to international models.
The Cao Bang Geopark, covering an area of over 3,000 km², nearly half the province's total area, is a vivid testament to a geological history spanning over 500 million years. It is not only notable for its fossils, marine sediments, volcanic rocks, and majestic landscapes, but also for its rich cultural and historical value.
This area was an early settlement of prehistoric people, a cradle of revolution during the resistance against the French, and home to eight ethnic groups with a rich treasure of tangible and intangible heritage. On April 12, 2018, UNESCO officially recognized Cao Bang Geopark as a Global Geopark.

This achievement also provides impetus for the locality to continue linking conservation efforts with socio-economic development, making Cao Bang's natural landscape a prominent destination on the international tourism map.
