The Civil Defense Command of Ta Khoa commune inspected the area at risk of dangerous landslides in Khoa village.

The family of Mr. Lu Van Muon, Khoa village, Ta Khoa commune, lives close to the bank of Khoa stream. This is an area at risk of dangerous landslides. Every time it rains heavily, the stream water rises and hits directly into the residential area of Mr. Muon's family.

Mr. Vang A Tu, Commander of the Military Command of Ta Khoa Commune, said: Realizing that the area has a high risk of landslides, the authorities have asked Mr. Muon's family to urgently evacuate people and property to a safe place if heavy rain continues. They have deployed warning signs in landslide areas and areas at risk of deep flooding so that people and vehicles know to avoid them.

Currently, the commune continues to compile statistics and review neighboring vulnerable areas to synthesize and request superiors to pay attention to building resettlement areas to ensure safety during the rainy and stormy season.

Ta Khoa is located in an area that is frequently affected by storms and floods, with a terrain that is mainly steep hills and mountains, many streams with strong flow rates due to the large difference in elevation between the downstream and upstream, evenly distributed in the villages, causing the risk of landslides, flash floods, and flash floods to always be present during the rainy season. Recently, due to the impact of storm No. 3, from the night of July 21 to 24, in Ta Khoa commune, there was continuous rain with moderate and heavy rain, causing 4 houses to have landslides on the positive slope; 18.3 hectares of corn were broken, causing damage of nearly 600 million VND.

Ta Khoa Commune Civil Defense Command deploys disaster response tasks.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Chairman of Ta Khoa Commune People's Committee, Head of the Commune Civil Defense Command, said: Ta Khoa Commune was established on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of the three communes of Muong Khoa, Hua Nhan and Ta Khoa. After coming into operation, the commune has completed the Commune Civil Defense Command; deployed plans for natural disaster prevention, search and rescue to the villages; assigned specific tasks and responsibilities to the villages and members.

The commune strictly implements the documents and directives of the Central Government, the province and the instructions of departments, branches and sectors on the response to heavy rains, landslides and flash floods in the area. Issue warning and urging documents according to the instructions of superiors in a timely manner according to regulations. Propagate and mobilize people to move to safe places; implement the motto "4 on-site, 3 ready" in performing tasks to be proactive in all situations that arise.

Authorities check materials to prepare for natural disasters.

Learning from previous years' experiences, Ta Khoa commune has divided the areas into zones to proactively respond to natural disasters. Areas at risk of flash floods, landslides, and inundation include the villages of Tan Cuong, Nhan Noc, Suoi Tang, and Khoa. The commune conducts screening, inspection, and statistics of each household in the affected area, potentially affected by flash floods and inundation. It focuses on propaganda and warnings to inform and prevent people, proactively evacuate people, property, and livestock from dangerous areas before floods and storms occur.

Areas that are often affected by landslides include Deo Chen, Suoi Sat, Ta Do and Phuc villages. The Commune Civil Defense Command regularly monitors and updates weather conditions. It directs the youth union members and militia to be ready to help households and schools transport furniture, food and provisions to safe places before storms and floods arrive. The commune police force stands guard at key locations that are prone to landslides to guide traffic, especially on National Highway 37 Muong Khoa - Ta Khoa, Hua Nhan - Ta Khoa to avoid accidents. The Commune People's Committee has directly contacted the owners of trucks and excavators in the area to be ready to respond when floods and storms occur.

With the spirit of being prepared, having a specific plan, not being negligent before the storm season, along with the people's proactive awareness of natural disaster prevention, it is hoped that this year's storm season, Ta Khoa commune will minimize the damage caused by natural disasters.
