High-quality journalistic works are those that are in line with the Party's guiding viewpoints, guidelines, and policies; the State's policies and laws; bring practical effects to society; have appropriate content and forms of expression, and are attractive to the public. So how can we have good, high-quality journalistic works? Perhaps, this is a question that every reporter and journalist has asked themselves at least once when choosing and deciding to stick with the profession.
The authors of Bac Giang Newspaper won first prize in the writing contest "Protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation" in 2023-2024. |
Right from the beginning of the year, the Editorial Board has directed specialized departments to advise, propose, and register specialized topics (special topics), and current issues and contents that are of interest to public opinion and society are mentioned for collective discussion and contribution of opinions; reporters are encouraged to create works. High-quality journalistic works require authors (groups of authors) to invest a lot of effort, intelligence, caution and enthusiasm, from the stage of choosing topics, exploiting and processing information, to completing the work. Journalistic works must be good, unique, attractive topics, current issues that attract the attention of public opinion; the content must be practical, authentic and rich in journalistic details.

The first factor is to determine the topic and idea. Journalists and reporters need to spend a lot of time learning and carefully studying the Party's resolutions and directives to create many high-quality journalistic works, in line with the Party's policies and guidelines and close to real life. When choosing a topic, authors and groups of authors are concerned about whether this factor is topical, new, of public interest, and whether it overlaps with old topics. If there is no new topic, journalists should try to find a new approach, a new perspective, and a new explanation.
Second, after having the right topic and ideas to express, hold a group meeting to discuss, outline and outline the work under the direction and guidance of the Editorial Board and the department leader. Each work needs to be long-term (from 3 to 5 periods). Third, high-quality journalistic works not only need to be "new in content" but also "creative in form of expression". We must always research and be creative in the way we express the work. When discovering good topics and current events, how do we express that issue? How to implement it? It is also necessary to choose good writers with the skills to express the work and have a style to "write". Verify information before publishing.
In the current era of information explosion and modern, multimedia journalism trends, there are many forms of expression, so it is necessary to calculate which form to choose to achieve the highest information efficiency. Do not be afraid of difficulties and hardships, but return to remote areas, where there are many good topics and many materials to exploit... Also, do not be "greedy" for "big" topics because in reality, local Party newspapers with big topics find it very difficult to compete with the Central press.
Journalists closely follow the political tasks of the locality and the grassroots; proactively and sensitively find out issues that society is interested in. In particular, they must follow up to the end of events and incidents, thoroughly resolve the problem, and not leave any issues hanging, especially investigative topics. When creating high-quality journalistic works to participate in the competition, the title, sapo and summary of the work are extremely important when submitting entries. This is the factor that first creates a good impression on the Jury. The title must be good, unique and the way it is presented must be attractive and smooth. There must also be many beautiful, diverse photos taken from many angles to truly reflect the issue.
Never before and never before has the press community nationwide had as many opportunities to participate in Central press awards as it does today. In addition to traditional press awards that have long been famous such as: National Press Award, Press Award on Party Building (Golden Hammer and Sickle); Press Award on the National Assembly and People's Council; Great National Unity Award; Press Award on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation; Press Award on Preventing and Combating Corruption and Negativity; Traffic Safety..., most central and local ministries, branches organize press awards on their fields.
On April 8, 2021, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 558/QD-TTg approving the "Program to support creative activities of literary, artistic and journalistic works and projects at the Central level and local Literature and Arts Associations; support high-quality journalistic works at local Journalists Associations for the period 2021-2025". As if "given wings", from the creative support source, many high-quality journalistic works have been produced, reporters have had more funding, more motivation to "go far, go deep, stay long at the base" to research and exploit documents. Many high-quality journalistic works that have been supported have won high prizes at local journalism awards and journalism awards of ministries and branches, and even higher, the National Journalism Award.
