Tam Da village has 132 households, mainly inhabited by the Tay and Nung ethnic minorities. Located about 4 km from the center of Tam Giang commune, the village faces many difficulties in its daily life. For many years, poor road infrastructure has been a major obstacle hindering economic development and the livelihoods of the local people.

Mr. Hoang Van Giap, Party Secretary and Head of Tam Da village, said that recognizing the concerns of the people and wanting to change the face of the rural area, the village had planned and calculated the cost of building roads in order to mobilize resources from the people. However, due to the economic difficulties of the people, and some thinking "the government will take care of the roads," the initial mobilization faced many difficulties.

Residents of Tam Da village (Tam Giang commune) are working together to clear and clean the road in preparation for its concrete paving.

Faced with this situation, the Party branch assigned village officials and influential people to go door-to-door to persuade the villagers. While the people worked in the fields during the day, the officials would travel to each house in the evening to talk and convince them. Small, intimate village meetings were held regularly. At the same time, village officials and Party members actively set a good example by contributing first to build trust among the people.

To ensure transparency, the village also established groups elected by the residents to directly solicit and collect contributions, with the village head only responsible for overall management. Residents will be assigned to groups to support and supervise the construction process.

That approach created great consensus among the people. In 2024, the villagers built a 560-meter-long road in hamlets 11A and 11B, costing 500 million VND, of which the State contributed 100 million VND, and the rest was contributed by the people.

In early 2025, residents continued to contribute to the concrete paving of the road leading to Hamlet 10, a 620-meter-long, 3-meter-wide section costing over 500 million VND. Many residents also voluntarily removed fences and trees to facilitate road construction. After completion, residents proactively cleaned the drainage ditches and planted flowers on both sides of the road, creating a clean, beautiful, and well-maintained landscape.

The roads currently under construction are being built with the help of residents from Tam Da village (Tam Giang commune).

Even more commendable is that during the road construction campaign, many poor households voluntarily took the lead in contributing, thereby inspiring other households to actively participate. For example, the family of Mr. Lieu Van Quan (Hamlet 10), despite being classified as a poor household, did not hesitate to contribute and actively participated in inspecting, supervising, and supporting the construction team during the road building process.

“Our family's economic situation is still difficult, and a contribution of 9 million VND per household is not insignificant. However, for the common good, my family had to scrimp and save to contribute. The new road was completed thanks to the people's efforts, and everyone feels proud. This movement has also strengthened the bonds among the villagers, fostering greater sharing and unity,” Mr. Quan shared.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Giap, over 30% of households in the village are currently classified as poor or near-poor. Despite the many difficulties in their lives, the people have actively responded and agreed to the project, resulting in 70% of the village's roads being paved with concrete. Approximately 1 km of unpaved dirt road remains unpaved. The village is continuing to gather feedback from residents and aims to pave one section each year, leveraging local resources to complete this road.

The people of Tam Da today may not be wealthy in material terms, but they possess a "common asset": sturdy, well-maintained roads built through a spirit of consensus. These roads are spreading hope and aspirations for the transformation of their homeland.
