On May 15, a source of SGGP Newspaper reported that the Chairman of the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City ( Binh Thuan Province) signed a decision to temporarily suspend the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Mui Ne Ward for Mr. Bui Ngoc Lam; for 15 days, starting from May 15, 2025.
The reason Mr. Bui Ngoc Lam was temporarily suspended from his position is to review and handle responsibilities in land management and construction work occurring in Mui Ne ward.
According to SGGP Newspaper's investigation, recently, land management and construction in Mui Ne ward have been quite complicated and have not been thoroughly resolved.

Specifically, in 2022, in the Long Son Quarter area (Mui Ne Ward), over 15,800m2 of land managed by the State was encroached upon by many subjects, who built many illegal structures. This land encroachment was not promptly detected and handled by the People's Committee of Mui Ne Ward.
In particular, from December 2022 to July 2024, SGGP Newspaper continuously reported that about 73,000 square meters of land in the area bordering the famous scenic spot of Mui Ne Sand Dunes (Mui Ne ward) was encroached upon, illegally transferred by many subjects, and a series of solid structures were brazenly built, causing public outrage.
Then, the Standing Committee of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee requested the Standing Committee of Phan Thiet City Party Committee to direct the inspection and verification of the information reported in the newspaper for handling according to the provisions of law.
In July 2024, the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City criticized and disciplined the People's Committee of Mui Ne Ward for delaying the handling of the case of thousands of square meters of land in the above area being encroached upon by many subjects and a series of illegal constructions. At the same time, the People's Committee of Mui Ne Ward was requested to coordinate with relevant units to urgently handle the case and quickly recover the land area and return it to the State for management.
However, it is noted that up to now, the case has not been completely resolved.
