Temporarily suspending Sa Ky - Ly Son route due to the impact of storm Fengshen

QNgTV- On the morning of October 20, the Sa Ky Port Management Board (Quang Ngai province) announced that the Sa Ky - Ly Son passenger transport route will temporarily stop operating due to the impact of storm 12, bad weather and to ensure the safety of residents and tourists.

Passengers rushed to the mainland yesterday afternoon before the train was stopped.

Due to the impact of storm No. 12, this morning (October 20), the sea off the coast of Quang Ngai has North to Northwest winds gradually increasing to level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8; wave height 2.5 - 3.5m, rough seas. The Sa Ky - Ly Son passenger transport routes must temporarily stop operations to ensure the safety of residents and tourists.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Ly Son Special Zone Nguyen Van Huy said that currently, the entire island special zone has 37 ships with 458 crew members still operating at sea. Of which, the Hoang Sa sea area has 7 ships with 74 crew members, the Truong Sa sea area has 29 ships with 376 crew members, and the South has 1 ship with 8 crew members. All of these ships have received information about storm No. 12.

Forecasting that the sea will be rough for a long time, the Ly Son special zone authorities have advised people to proactively stock up on food and essential goods. Shops and grocery stores on the island have also been encouraged to increase their reserves, ensuring enough supply for daily needs for at least a month.

On Be Island alone, the local government has prepared 1 ton of rice to promptly support people in case of prolonged isolation. Currently, the supply of essential goods on the island remains stable, with no shortages.

Previously, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province held a meeting with relevant units, departments and localities to respond to storm Fengshen (storm No. 12) and rain and floods in the province. Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province Do Tam Hien requested units to continue to strictly implement the instructions of the Provincial People's Committee on strengthening the work of preventing, combating and overcoming damage caused by natural disasters in the rainy and stormy season of 2025 in Quang Ngai province.
