French luxury brand Dior said on May 14 that it had been hacked and customer data stolen, but insisted that no financial information was included.
Dior - a subsidiary of LVMH Group, is the latest leading European retail brand to be hit by a cyberattack.
Dior's statement said it had recently discovered that a third party had unauthorized access to some of its customer data. Dior immediately took measures to control the incident.
Dior did not say how many customers were involved but confirmed that no financial information, such as bank card numbers, was in the accessed database.
Dior's technical teams, with the support of leading cybersecurity experts, are continuing to investigate and address the incident and the company will notify all relevant regulatory authorities and affected customers.
Dior made the announcement after Le Monde newspaper reported that customers in Asia had reported the theft of information, which is believed to have occurred in January.
According to Le Monde, the stolen information included customers' names, emails, postal addresses and phone numbers.
Dior is one of LVMH's two main brands, along with Louis Vuitton, and is expected to generate 8.7 billion euros ($9.7 billion) in revenue in 2024, according to HSBC.
Hacking groups have increasingly targeted luxury brands and retailers in recent months.
British retailer Marks and Spencer said on May 13 that some of its customers' personal data was stolen in a cyber attack that paralyzed its online services for weeks.
Luxury store Harrods and food chain Co-op have also been hit by cyber attacks in recent weeks./.
