Since the beginning of the year, the fight against drug crimes in the province has had positive changes in key areas and locations. Promoting that strength, in the coming time, the Provincial Police will continue to focus on strongly attacking this crime in border areas and apartment buildings. Special attention will be paid to propaganda so that people can boldly provide information to denounce crimes.
A group of young people organizing illegal drug use was discovered by the provincial police.
Many cases were quickly cleared up.
In the first quarter of 2023, the Drug Crime Investigation Police force clarified 121 cases and arrested 253 drug law violators. Notably, it effectively implemented inspection and combat work against subjects who took advantage of activities in business establishments with security and order conditions to commit drug crimes.
Through the fight, the provincial police force quickly clarified many cases of drug trafficking and use in large quantities. In particular, there was a case where the subject used "hot goods" for self-defense and was ready to fight back when being chased. Specifically, in mid-March 2023, when Tan Uyen City Police coordinated with Thai Hoa Ward Police to eliminate a drug gang, they discovered many guns and bullets at the place where the subject was renting a room.
Previously, through professional work, the police force discovered a suspected drug-related crime hotspot in Tan Uyen City, so they planned to eradicate it. When the subject entered the motel to deliver drugs, he was raided by detectives and restrained along with the evidence. The functional force seized more than 40 nylon bags containing white crystals (suspected to be drugs), 1 completed gun, 2 guns in the process of assembly, 55 bullets and many other related evidence.
Drug criminals infiltrate motels and apartments
According to the recommendations of the authorities, the situation of young people renting apartments and motels to organize drug buying and selling and using is quite common. Recently, through professional measures, Thuan An City Police discovered a group of 10 young people renting a motel to organize drug use. This group was organized by Tran Truong Phi (born in 1988) and Danh Vu Linh (born in 1995), both from Soc Trang . When the authorities raided room 109 of Hong Ngoc motel, in An Phu ward, Thuan An city, they discovered 10 young people organizing illegal drug use. Initially, it was determined that Tran Truong Phi was the manager of Hong Ngoc motel who harbored drug users. Danh Vu Linh had the behavior of enticing subjects to organize illegal drug use. In addition, through inspection, the authorities discovered that this facility did not notify the local police of its stay as required, and the accommodation service logbook was incomplete.
Regarding drug prevention work in the area, Lieutenant Colonel Dam Bao Quan, Head of Di An City Police, said that in the first 3 months of the year, the unit discovered and eliminated 89 cases, arrested 184 subjects related to drugs, an increase of 18 cases compared to the same period. Through investigation, 75 subjects were temporarily detained, including many cases of subjects organizing the use and trading of drugs in apartments and motels. Specifically, in the early morning of March 12, Di An City Police coordinated with Binh Thang Ward Police to raid apartment B14-12 of Samsora Riverside apartment building (Binh Thang Ward, Di An City) and arrested 6 young men who were using illegal drugs. At the scene, the police seized many packages of drugs and related evidence.
Similarly, on March 12, through professional work, Di An City Police discovered that Vu Ngoc Trang (born 2001, from Soc Trang), the owner of a nail salon in Di An Ward, had signs of organizing illegal drug use. According to police records, Nguyen Thi Kieu My (born 1998, from Can Tho ) was the drug supplier, inviting 6 other young people to use it. However, the subjects were arrested before using it.
Faced with the reality of people renting apartments and motels to organize illegal drug use, in the coming time, the Provincial Police will deploy a plan to coordinate drug prevention in high-rise apartment buildings, focusing on propagating the harmful effects of drugs and mobilizing people to join hands to push this evil out of the community.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Do Ngoc An, Head of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Police, in order to effectively prevent and combat drugs, it is necessary to promote the role of grassroots forces; especially each citizen is a drug propagandist in the community. “According to the assessment, in the coming time, the drug crime situation will continue to develop complicatedly, so it is necessary to further promote the role of grassroots forces and people in prevention work. At the same time, the drug crime prevention police force always supports and works closely with the grassroots to gradually reduce drug crimes in the community,” said Lieutenant Colonel Do Ngoc An. |
