Who is the new director of National Economics University?

Accordingly, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong becomes the new Director of the National Economics University. Before taking on this task, Associate Professor Bui Huy Nhuong was the Vice Director of this University. His predecessor was Professor Dr. Pham Hong Chuong.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, affirmed that the National Economics University is an academic center with a profound influence on the process of planning socio-economic development policies of the capital and the whole country; at the same time, the school is also a gathering place for leading experts and scientists in Vietnam, actively contributing to the cause of innovation and development of the country.

In November 2024, the school was decided by the Prime Minister to convert its organizational model into a university, operating under a highly autonomous mechanism.

According to Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son, along with digital transformation and technology explosion, the world's geopolitical context is also experiencing many complex fluctuations, requiring us to have flexible thinking and a global vision. Sustainable development issues, such as climate change, resource depletion, social inequality, etc., are posing new problems for every country. Vietnam is no exception to these trends.

In that context, the Deputy Minister hopes that the National Economics University will continue to promote its pioneering mission. In particular, he expects the National Economics University to take the lead in researching new economic and management issues of the era, such as digital economy, artificial intelligence in governance, green economy and sustainable development.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong grew up at the National Economics University, received formal training domestically and internationally, and held many important positions at the school. With a solid professional foundation, practical management experience and innovative thinking, he is highly trusted by the school community.

"I believe that in his new position, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong will inherit traditional values, bring innovative energy, contribute to the strong development of the School, maintain its pioneering role and reach the regional level," said Associate Professor Hoang Minh Son.

Receiving the expectations of the Ministry of Education and Training, Associate Professor Bui Huy Nhuong affirmed that the new context is both an opportunity and a challenge for the National Economics University to continue to affirm its pioneering role in the Vietnamese higher education system and reach international standards.

"Becoming the Director of the National Economics University is a great honor and at the same time a challenging responsibility that I will have to strive to fulfill with all my intelligence, enthusiasm and spirit of service to respond to the trust of the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training; as well as the love and trust that generations of leaders and the school's teaching staff have given me," said Associate Professor Bui Huy Nhuong.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong was born in 1973. He graduated with a major in Economics from the National Economics University (now the National Economics University) in 1994. He graduated with a Master's degree in Business Administration from Boise University, Idaho, USA in 1997. In 2007, he received a PhD in Economics from the National Economics University. Immediately after graduating from university, Mr. Nhuong joined the teaching staff at the National Economics University. In 2011, he was recognized as an Associate Professor and was awarded the title of Excellent Teacher by the State in 2020. He is currently a senior lecturer at the University.

Before becoming the Director of the National Economics University, Associate Professor Bui Huy Nhuong held many management positions at the university. From 2005 to 2008, he was Deputy Director of the International Business Consulting and Training Center and a lecturer. After that, he was Chief of Office of the Management Board of Advanced, High-Quality Training Programs and POHE; Director of the Center/Director of the Institute of Advanced, High-Quality Training and POHE; Head of the Organization - Personnel Department; Vice Rector/Vice Director of the National Economics University.
