There are many reasons why new students quickly look for part-time jobs: They want to earn more income and gain experience, or simply want to try new things that they couldn't do during their student days.
Value money more
For over a month, Bui Quang Anh, a student at RMIT University, has gotten used to working part-time at The Fish Sauce restaurant in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City after school hours.
Like most first-year students, Quang Anh also encountered many surprises in the new learning environment. The biggest pressure for this Hanoi native is how to balance studying and working. Fortunately, the school's timetable allows students a lot of time to study on their own as well as invest in personal development, so Quang Anh can flexibly arrange to work without affecting his studies.

Bui Quang Anh (left cover, front row) was warmly welcomed and supported by many people when he started working part-time.
"Studying far from home and not making many close friends, working part-time helps me feel active and improves my spiritual life a lot" - Quang Anh expressed.
Although his parents still cover most of his tuition and living expenses, the obvious difference after Quang Anh started working is that he knows how to manage his finances effectively. Previously, Quang Anh used to spend money to the limit, but now he is conscious of saving and knows how to value money.
Not only students far from home worry about finding part-time jobs to accumulate income and life experience, young people in the city also do not miss the opportunity to expand their limits. Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga, a freshman at the University of Economics and Finance in Ho Chi Minh City, is an employee of a famous milk tea brand. This 18-year-old girl has faced many challenges due to the difficult requests of customers or the confusion of not being proficient in the job.
However, Nga is still very excited because "the work is not too hard, and she gets to meet many new friends". She is happy with the results of her work, gaining practical skills and somewhat reducing the burden on her family.

Quynh Nga is more confident when she can be more proactive in spending and covering student life.
Fill your adult luggage
One of the motivations that motivates many new students to boldly step out of the "safe zone" of protection and care of their families is the need to discover their own abilities. Many boys and girls aged 18-20 always crave to practice and are not afraid of difficulties and hardships to "upgrade" themselves to become more perfect.
Huynh Nhu Thao is a new student majoring in public relations but is quite shy and timid. Therefore, working part-time at a shoe store has helped this girl from Lam Dong a lot.
Thao acknowledged: "Thanks to frequent contact with many people, including foreigners, I have significantly improved my communication and foreign language skills. These are also factors related to the field I pursue."
Although she enjoys the rich experiences that part-time jobs bring, Thao always reminds herself to prioritize her studies. She does not encounter many difficulties because she has the support of her family and also receives a lot of guidance from those who have gone before her.
Seasonal or part-time jobs, which do not require high expertise and qualifications, and are even completely different from the future career path that new students are aiming for, are still popular choices for many young people who have just passed their adolescence. The knowledge, skills, and practical experiences gained through part-time jobs are valuable lessons outside of the classroom and books, becoming practical "capital" on their journey to adulthood.

Nhu Thao wants to use her youth to study and do something useful.
Quang Anh feels happy and grateful to have found an ideal part-time job, which is warmly welcomed and supported by many people. After the initial setbacks, Quang Anh has been able to concentrate better, observe more carefully and behave more skillfully. Meanwhile, Quynh Nga and Nhu Thao know how to manage time effectively, expand social connections, and add color to life.
If you have the opportunity to participate early in a professional, healthy working environment with good managers and good colleagues, it will help young people become bolder, more independent, more courageous, and have more positive inspiration in life. However, new students also need to be alert when choosing a part-time job, and be cautious of many "easy work, high salary" traps. To avoid becoming victims of scammers and profiteers, young people need to carefully research the employer and have a clear agreement, agreement, and contract when accepting the job.
On the other hand, new students should note that their main task is still studying. Therefore, they need to know how to balance between studying and working; have a reasonable lifestyle, stay healthy instead of just rushing to work and forgetting other important goals.
