On the morning of October 3, in Hanoi, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council received Ms. Mariam Sherman, Country Director of the World Bank (WB) in Vietnam.

Expressing his joy at welcoming Ms. Mariam Sherman to visit and work with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang congratulated Ms. Mariam Sherman on her new position and wished her success in completing her assigned tasks.
Pleased to visit and work at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the WB Country Director in Vietnam said that at this meeting, the WB discussed with the Academy about organizing a Forum to introduce the Vietnam 2045 report. Ms. Mariam Sherman hopes that the Forum will be organized at a high level, with the importance of policy making in Vietnam. Currently, the report has been built with sections on Vietnam's important achievements in the fields of politics, economics , culture, society, education, environment... The Forum is expected to take place in Hanoi on November 20.
Affirming that Vietnam always accompanies the WB to effectively implement the commitments that the two sides have been negotiating to soon reach a cooperation agreement, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang said: The World Bank has had a positive assessment of the current changes in Vietnam; however, it is necessary to supplement and update new developments in Vietnam such as human resource development, science and technology, and development of Vietnamese enterprises.
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that the World Bank in Vietnam have a specific program to support localities in Vietnam, especially in terms of policy and sustainable development; at the same time, have explanations and suggestions for new directions for Vietnam in the coming time, with a vision to 2045 when Vietnam enters a new starting point - the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.

Ms. Mariam Sherman also said that recently, the WB has proactively coordinated with Vietnamese authorities to discuss and find timely solutions to remove obstacles in the process of implementing projects; hoping that Vietnamese authorities will have proactive solutions to remove obstacles in processes and procedures to speed up the completion of investment procedures, and soon negotiate and sign a cooperation agreement with the WB in the near future./.
