Strengthening management to make Thanh Tuyen Festival civilized and safe

The parade models are granted brand recognition logos to improve the quality of Thanh Tuyen Festival.

However, besides meaningful and highly educational models, there are still some models that are not safe, lack aesthetics, even have offensive images, and abusive sound and light, causing mixed public opinion, requiring timely rectification of festival management.

Recently, many people have complained about the abuse of loud music and revealing costumes, which are not suitable for the space of the Mid-Autumn Festival model parade in the community, where both the elderly and children participate. Some models even cosplay substandard characters, which are not suitable for the joyful and innocent spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Ms. Dinh Thi Huong, a parent in Minh Xuan ward, expressed: “Mid-Autumn Festival is a children's festival, but there are models that look like bars and dance floors, many people dress indecently, and the music is played loudly. Those images make parents like us very worried, because the festival should bring children joy and innocence, not vulgarity.”

Many opinions agree that Mid-Autumn Festival needs to honor funny mascots that are close to children, instead of mixed, offensive images that easily create aesthetic deviations and have a negative impact on young people.

Improve festival quality

Implementing Plan No. 123/KH-UBND dated May 30, 2025 and Document No. 511/UBND-VHXH dated July 25, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee on organizing Thanh Tuyen Festival in 2025, the Provincial Organizing Committee for Major Holidays has issued a document directing to strengthen the management of Mid-Autumn Festival lantern model parade activities, to ensure the festival takes place safely, civilized, healthy and rich in identity.

Accordingly, the People's Committees of communes and wards with participating models must step up propaganda work and mobilize people to strictly implement regulations on registration, design and operation of models. The models must ensure safety, creativity, reflect cultural and historical values, and be associated with the traditional beauty of Tuyen Quang . It is strictly forbidden to use offensive images, sounds, and lights that violate traditional customs; at the same time, only models that are granted the official logo of the Festival are eligible to participate in the parade.

Notably, the issue of vehicles carrying model parades has received much attention. In reality, many homemade vehicles, bulky model transport vehicles, lacking technical safety measures have posed a high risk of traffic insecurity.

The Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has issued document No. 20/BATGT-VP, requiring functional forces to synchronously deploy many measures to control the traffic situation, which has become overloaded during peak days.

According to the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, now that the new school year has begun, the Mid-Autumn Festival lantern parades should not be held on weekdays. The Mid-Autumn Festival lantern parades should only be held on Saturdays, Sundays, the rehearsal day and the official day of the festival. Absolutely do not hold Mid-Autumn Festival lantern parades during the 1st Congress of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Committee (September 22, 23, 24, 2025).

The maximum speed of the models is about 20km/h, limiting the number of people on the vehicle, especially children and the elderly. Before departure, check the electric brake system and fire prevention measures, limit loud speakers and horns when participating in the parade.

In addition, technical infrastructure management agencies need to review and repair lighting systems, traffic lights, add lines, paint, signs and reflective warning devices at intersections, and arrange parking areas outside the province's administrative center. Transport units need to increase the frequency of buses and taxis to meet people's travel needs.

At the same time, the People's Committees of communes and wards signed commitments with villages and residential groups participating in the parade to raise awareness of responsibility. Heads of residential groups must be responsible for checking the safety conditions of the model before circulation, proactively developing traffic accident prevention plans suitable to local conditions.

Join hands to preserve the brand

The policy of rectifying the parade models ensures the criteria to help Thanh Tuyen Festival become more civilized, maintain its identity, and receive the attention of many people. Mr. Dang Van Thanh, Head of the Front Committee of Residential Group 3, Minh Xuan Ward said: "We completely agree with the regulations of the province and ward on rectifying festival activities, because the people have spent a lot of effort to make the model, so it needs to be organized in a civilized atmosphere, not offensive".

At residential group 16, Minh Xuan ward, Ms. Doan Thi Yen, Party cell secretary and head of the residential group, shared: “We strictly follow the regulations, ensure environmental hygiene; prevent and fight fires and preserve traditional customs. In addition, to stimulate tourism and increase income for the people, we propose to extend the parade time from Friday evening to Sunday, because this is the time when there are the most tourists and when students are off school.”

Ms. Le Thi Thu, a tourist from Hanoi, commented: “The atmosphere of Thanh Tuyen Festival is really exciting, especially for young people, this is an opportunity to have fun and live in a true street festival space. The giant parade models, sparkling with lights make everyone want to take photos and record clips to keep. However, to make the festival more beautiful in the eyes of everyone, I think the models should aim for creativity and freshness while still preserving cultural and traditional customs. We are young and modern but need to be civilized and sophisticated to attract young people and satisfy older tourists or families with small children.”

Over many years of organization, Thanh Tuyen Festival has become a unique brand of Tuyen Quang, a unique cultural destination of the whole country. However, to maintain its attractiveness and beautiful image, tightening management and correcting spontaneous and offensive manifestations is a must, not only to help the festival take place safely and civilly, but also to affirm the brand "Thanh Tuyen Festival" - the pride of Tuyen Quang people, a unique cultural destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
