Thanh Tuyen Festival where lanterns tell stories

After more than 20 years of formation and development, Thanh Tuyen Festival has grown from spontaneous groups in residential groups, wards, to city and provincial levels. Up to now, the uniqueness of the festival has been recognized with many Guinness records such as the Mid-Autumn Festival with the largest lantern models in Vietnam, the largest Mid-Autumn Festival tray in Vietnam, the largest pair of lanterns in Vietnam. In 2024, Thanh Tuyen Festival was granted a Trademark Registration Certificate by the Department of Intellectual Property. Every year, the province is determined to innovate and be creative in organizing the festival.

Thanh Tuyen Festival has more and more beautiful and innovative models.

Comrade Nguyen Van Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: In 2025, Thanh Tuyen Festival will enter a new phase when Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang provinces merge, thus expanding the space of the festival. This year, the province will organize Thanh Tuyen Festival Night on the evening of October 4 (Saturday, August 13 of the lunar calendar) at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square, Minh Xuan Ward and March 26 Square, Ha Giang 1 Ward, Tuyen Quang Province. The program will be broadcast live on Tuyen Quang Newspaper and Radio and Television, along with the rebroadcast of many other stations.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to develop a specific plan to organize Thanh Tuyen Night Festival, and report to the Provincial People's Committee for comments on implementation. Specifically, the art program "Sparkling colors of Thanh Tuyen Night Festival" assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to direct the Provincial Ethnic Arts Troupe to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to implement.
In the central wards of the province such as Minh Xuan, An Tuong, Nong Tien, My Lam, Binh Thuan , registration, parade, model competition at ward level will be organized, excellent models will be selected to participate in the official parade at Thanh Tuyen Festival Night on the evening of October 4. According to the Festival Organizing Committee, this year, 55 typical models will be selected to participate in the parade of the above central wards, including 5 Mid-Autumn Festival lantern models of the Provincial Tourism Association. Models participating in the street parade must comply with regulations on traffic safety, fire prevention, electrical safety, and festival civilization. In particular, Mid-Autumn Festival model cars of communes and wards will be registered, considered, granted, and labeled Thanh Tuyen Festival on the model cars according to regulations by the Provincial Investment Promotion Center.

The joy of tourists when coming to participate in Thanh Tuyen Festival.

During the series of activities of Thanh Tuyen Festival, there are outstanding activities such as: "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival remembering Uncle Ho" program; Organizing the Tuyen Quang Province Pickleball Open Tournament and the Tuyen Quang Province Club Table Tennis Open Tournament for Thanh Tuyen Festival Cup; Tuyen Quang Marathon 2025; Demonstration of driving cars and off-road motorbikes in Tuyen Quang province, the location of the activities is in Minh Xuan ward.

Comrade Vu Xuan Quynh, Vice Chairman of Minh Xuan Ward People's Committee, said that the ward has carefully prepared for the Minh Xuan Ward Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Model Competition with the theme "Full Moon Festival Night - Happy Mid-Autumn Festival", scheduled to be held around September 20 with over 50 models, selecting typical models to participate in the Thanh Tuyen Festival Night of the province on the evening of October 4. Currently, Minh Xuan is the central ward of the province with the tradition of many residential groups responding to make Mid-Autumn Festival lantern models. Therefore, the ward is also the locality assigned by the province to select many Mid-Autumn Festival lantern models for the Thanh Tuyen Festival Night.

There are still about 3 weeks left until Thanh Tuyen Festival Night, but in the evenings, especially Saturday and Sunday evenings on the streets of Minh Xuan ward, Tuyen Quang province, the atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival lantern model parade has been vibrant, attracting people and tourists to experience. The province has had solutions to divert traffic, ensuring that activities take place safely and healthily.
