Lighting the fire of charity from volunteer models in schools

DNO - Right after storm No. 10, the spirit of charity of students in Da Nang schools was rekindled through warm sharing actions. From charity trips to models of "loving piggy banks", "free cake stalls"... all convey a simple but profound message: giving is not only to help, but also to sow in the hearts of young people a lesson of responsibility, love and living for the community.

The Volunteer - Startup - Creativity Club of Nguyen Duy Hieu High School (Hoi An) gives gifts to students in difficult circumstances.

Immediately after storm No. 10, the Student Council of Anh Quoc Primary - Secondary - High School launched the program "Sharing love - helping friends overcome difficulties", towards Doan Nhien Primary School (An Loi village, Dai Loc commune), a school that suffered heavy damage after the natural disaster.

Early one weekend morning in November, a group of more than 30 students and teachers set off with two buses full of gifts: books, warm clothes, necessities and small cards with loving wishes.

Mr. Tran Cao Thanh Hai, the school’s principal, was moved to share: “Personality education is not found in books but in kind deeds. Each trip is a lesson in compassion and sharing.”

At Doan Nhien Primary School, students from both schools played games, read books and sang the song "Linking Hands". Tran Bao Nam, an 11th grade student, representative of the volunteer group, said emotionally: "We understand that each gift sent not only has material value, but also sentiments and hopes to help our friends overcome difficulties."

At Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, the Charity Club headed by Le Xuan Anh, a 12th grade Biology student, has become a bright spot in the city's student charity movement.

With 48 members, the club operates year-round in many creative ways: during the Mid-Autumn Festival, they make cakes to raise funds, in the summer they open a drink stall, and in the winter they sell handmade products made by the students themselves.

The fund is used to support poor students, lonely elderly people, and organize Mid-Autumn Festival for children at Thien Tam Support Center and Minh Thien Hospital.

In particular, the program "Free Cake Stall" in Hoa Thuan Ward has become an annual activity, attracting a large number of students and residents to participate. Each cake, each glass of water here carries a simple but profound message: "Giving is forever".

Head teacher Le Xuan Anh shared: “We not only raise funds but also want to spread the spirit of sharing. When we wrap cakes together, make gifts, and then give them to those in need, we feel like we are truly doing something meaningful."

Mr. Nguyen Tran Bao Duy, Secretary of the Youth Union of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, said: "The most valuable thing about the students is not the amount of money they raise, but their hearts. Activities like this help students practice skills, nurture their personalities, and learn to live for the community."

At Nguyen Duy Hieu High School (Hoi An), the model of the Charity - Startup - Creativity Club has been strongly spreading the spirit of humanity among students throughout the school.

Mr. Nguyen Cao Vien, Secretary of the School Youth Union and Head of the Club, said: "We want each volunteer activity to not only help others but also be an opportunity for students to practice life skills and learn how to start a business from sharing."

The most prominent of the activities is the model “Raising a piggy bank - Sharing love”, which is deployed to each branch. Each student saves 5,000 VND/week to “feed the pig”, at the end of the semester they will break the piggy bank and use all the money to give Tet gifts to students in difficult circumstances.

In addition, the club also carries out many meaningful and widespread activities such as: Zero-dong Book Festival - promoting reading culture and knowledge sharing spirit; Zero-dong Smile - bringing free meals and drinks to poor workers; programs to visit and give gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, taking care of historical relics, beautifying residential areas...

In particular, the model "Foster Child of the Union" has been maintained by sponsoring Do Thi Anh Tuyet (class 8/3, Ly Tu Trong Secondary School), supporting 300,000 VND per month and gifts on holidays and Tet.

At the beginning of this school year, the school's students also donated 25 million VND to Lung Than Kindergarten No. 1 (Si Ma Cai district, Lao Cai province) to buy televisions, blankets, pillows and school supplies for children in the highlands.

The charity buses, the “piggy banks of love”, the free cake stalls or the sharing markets… all are quietly adding beautiful and lasting values to school life. And it is from these small but sincere actions that human love is extended, sowing more hope so that after each storm season passes, love continues to blossom, spread and stay long in life.
