Continuing to carry out the task of helping people, on July 30, more than 300 officers and soldiers of Regiment 1, Division 324 organized a general cleaning of the most difficult and complicated area of Hoa Binh market, Tuong Duong commune. Major Le Van Minh, Deputy Chief of Staff of Regiment 1, said: “This is the lowest area of the market, where livestock and poultry are traded and slaughtered. The carcasses of animals such as pigs, chickens, ducks... have been dead for 10 days, and are in the process of strong decomposition, so the stench is very strong. We had to burn large pots of soapberry and spray disinfectant continuously so that the soldiers could approach the scene to clean up. The work is increasingly difficult and complicated.”

On the evening of July 30, the 215th Brigade (Armored Corps) with 70 officers and soldiers carrying many equipment and vehicles marched to Tuong Duong commune. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Brigade Commander and Chief of Staff of Brigade 215, said: "The unit will immediately start helping people overcome the consequences of floods; at the same time, coordinate with the locality to organize the giving of gifts and necessities to support households that suffered heavy losses"...

On July 30, Regiment 764 (Nghe An Provincial Military Command) continued to maintain more than 100 officers and soldiers in coordination with the Nam Can International Border Post and the Defense Command of Region 4-Tuong Duong (Nghe An Provincial Military Command)... to clean up mud, fallen trees, and search for items buried in deep mud to help policy families, single-parent households, and families with heavy losses.
Thousands of hearts turn to the flood area
Early in the morning of July 30, when the fog was still covering the mountain slopes, relief convoys loaded with necessities such as instant noodles, drinking water, dry food, rice, blankets, clothes, etc. entered Muong Xen commune and other heavily damaged communes in the west of Nghe An province. Not only did they help flood victims with essential items, many practical volunteer activities were also quickly implemented, such as repairing electrical equipment, repairing motorbikes for free, etc., contributing to helping people rebuild their lives.
Present in Muong Xen commune since early afternoon of July 29, the refrigeration repair team led by Mr. Le Van Giap (Tan Ky commune, Nghe An province) quickly set up a reception point in front of the gate of the Defense Command of Region 4 - Tuong Duong to repair free of charge household electrical equipment damaged by floods. Mr. Giap shared: “Through information from newspapers and radio, I know that people in Tuong Duong, Muong Xen and some other communes suffered very heavy damage, especially electrical equipment and household appliances were damaged a lot after the flood. Therefore, I called on my brothers in the refrigeration association to join hands to help. Our group consists of 50 members, traveling in 20 pickup trucks and 1 large truck carrying generators and many spare parts. We repair for free, if the equipment is seriously damaged and needs to be replaced, we contact dealers in other places for support. On the afternoon of July 29, the group repaired hundreds of electrical equipment. We decided to stay in the flooded area until people stabilize their lives.”
Not only the electrical repair team, the free motorbike repair activity is also taking place at full capacity to help the people. After connecting on social networks, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luu (a local motorbike repairman) called on hundreds of members everywhere to respond. On the morning of July 30, more than 30 members were present in Muong Xen, bringing full spare parts and tools to start working...
My Ly Commune, Nghe An Province is one of the localities most severely damaged in the recent historic floods. After the water receded, the government and people of My Ly Commune received a lot of help from people from all over the country. According to statistics from the local government, from July 24 to now, the locality has received 56 groups to support necessities with a total value of about 3.5 billion VND. In which, the main items are clothes, bottled water, milk... After receiving, the commune has deployed transportation and supplies for people in the villages. However, in the complicated traffic conditions, the support for people prioritizes food, while a large amount of clothes must still be left at the commune headquarters.
Comrade Vi Kham Dao, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Ly commune, emotionally shared: “We are very grateful to our compatriots nationwide for helping and supporting the local government and people in the most difficult days. In the coming days, we hope that charitable groups and individuals will switch to supporting the people with necessary items such as: blankets, cooking stoves, bowls, chopsticks and cash so that people can soon restore production and daily life.”
Currently, the supply to the people in isolated villages in My Ly commune is still very difficult, especially Xop Duong and Cha Nga villages which are far from the commune center, the traffic roads are broken, the only way to reach is to walk for many hours along the forest and mountains, with a high risk of insecurity. Talking to us, comrade Luong Van Bay, Chairman of My Ly commune People's Committee expressed his concern when Cha Nga village suffered very heavy damage with 36 houses completely swept away by flood, traffic is cut off, there is no communication...
On July 30, a working delegation of the Border Guard Command led by Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai, member of the Party Central Committee and Commander of the Border Guard, visited, presented gifts, and encouraged soldiers and people in the flooded area of Nghe An. The working delegation and accompanying units presented 205 gifts to families that suffered heavy losses (each gift worth 2.5 million VND). The Border Guard Command of Nghe An province also presented 50 gifts to support 50 families. |
