| Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Tho inspects the progress of Phuoc An bridge. |
The main road is gradually becoming clear.
After more than two years of construction, the Phuoc An bridge project has reached approximately 72% completion, three months ahead of schedule. Main contractors such as Hoa Binh Construction Group JSC (620, 479) and Trung Nam EC are working three shifts continuously, mobilizing maximum manpower and equipment. Mr. Thai Van Nhat Cuong, Deputy Project Manager of Trung Nam EC, stated that if the progress is maintained, the project could be completed 4-5 months ahead of schedule, with the entire project expected to be finished in early 2027.
The 991B road project, connecting National Highway 51 to the downstream of Cai Mep port, is entering its final stages, aiming for technical opening to traffic in June 2025. Following the direction of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, the Provincial Project Management Board for Regional Transportation and Agriculture has added more subcontractors to accelerate progress.
The project's construction is facing numerous challenges due to the unique topography of the tidal zone, delays in land clearance for package 37, fluctuating material prices, and overlap with existing infrastructure such as power lines, gas pipelines, and highways. Despite these challenges, the investor affirms that the entire construction workforce is making every effort to ensure progress and completion within 2025.
The Long Son - Cai Mep road project has a total length of nearly 3.75km. After completing the land-use conversion work, the entire route is being simultaneously implemented with various bridge and road construction items. To date, the cumulative value of work completed has reached approximately 42.1% of the total construction capital. The road section is about 36% complete, and the bridge section is 50% complete. Package 51 also commenced construction in early June 2025.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trinh, Director of the Provincial Project Management Board for Regional Transportation and Agriculture, said that the Board regularly inspects and holds meetings with construction units; in cases of delays due to contractor errors, they will be handled according to the contract. Contractors are required to increase manpower and equipment, and work in "3 shifts, 4 teams" to ensure progress.
Two projects must be completed in 2025.
This was the directive of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Van Tho, during a field inspection and working session with the construction units and investors of three key transportation projects, including Road 991B, Long Son - Cai Mep Road, and Phuoc An Bridge, on June 8th.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the completion of Road 991B before August 15, 2025, and also directed the Project Management Board to add subcontractors to accelerate construction.
Regarding the Phuoc An bridge, the requirement is to complete the approach bridge on the Ba Ria-Vung Tau side (package 38) in 2025; accelerate the construction of the main extradose span and the approach bridge on the Dong Nai side, striving to shorten the construction time by 6-9 months.
Regarding the Long Son - Cai Mep route, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho requested the investor to coordinate with the Department of Finance to extend the Song Rang bridge construction package, accelerate progress to open the route to traffic before August 30th, and complete the entire route before December 30th, 2025.
In addition, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested increased on-site inspections and regular meetings; strict handling of contractors violating progress schedules, and ensuring labor safety and environmental hygiene.
