DTO - After merging Dong Thap and Tien Giang provinces into Dong Thap province (from July 1, 2025), the provincial administrative center is located in My Tho city, Tien Giang province, formerly and currently the wards: My Tho, Dao Thanh, My Phong, Trung An and Thoi Son. This poses an urgent need for connecting means of transport, creating favorable travel conditions for cadres, civil servants, public employees (CB, CC, VC) and people.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Dong Thap province: Right from the time of the Central Government's policy on merging Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces into Dong Thap province with the provincial administrative center located in some wards such as: My Tho, Trung An, Dao Thanh, My Phong... we have proactively built a plan to develop a connecting traffic system. In addition to the 2 previous bus routes from Tien Giang to Dong Thap, they are still operating stably. Before merging Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces, the Departments of Construction of the 2 provinces reviewed and recommended the Vietnam Road Administration to add new bus routes to the list of fixed inter-provincial road routes. Specifically, the added routes include: Tien Giang Bus Station - Hong Ngu City Bus Station, Tien Giang Bus Station - Thap Muoi Bus Station, Tien Giang Bus Station - Sa Dec Bus Station and Tien Giang Bus Station - Cao Lanh Bus Station. The bus routes operate on both expressways and national highways to best meet the travel needs of civil servants, public employees, civil servants and people.
Because the new bus routes were added to the list in a short time, some transport units have not been prepared in time in many aspects such as: investing in vehicles, recruiting drivers and service staff, surveying people's travel needs... Therefore, the process of registering to exploit bus routes is somewhat delayed compared to the original plan. However, through the time of implementing and publicly announcing the list of bus routes, along with the Department of Construction's active call for investment to register to exploit bus routes, the first positive results have been achieved. That is, Quoc Hoang Company Limited has successfully registered to exploit the route from Cao Lanh Bus Station to Tien Giang Bus Station and vice versa, opening up a new direction for development for the public transport system between localities in Dong Thap province.
The Cao Lanh - My Tho bus route will officially come into operation from July 18, 2025; at the same time, shuttle buses will be arranged to serve civil servants, public employees, and employees to their workplaces at the agency headquarters and residences. The Cao Lanh - My Tho bus route has the following specific operating route: Cao Lanh Bus Station - National Highway 30 - My Thuan - Trung Luong Expressway - Provincial Road 878 - Dong Tam Intersection - National Highway 1 - National Highway 60 - Ap Bac Road - Tien Giang Bus Station and vice versa.
Ms. Ho Tran Hai Yen - Head of the Call Center Department, Quoc Hoang Company Limited said: “At first, the company planned to have 2 departure times every day. However, the company decided to adjust to 3 departure times including: Cao Lanh-My Tho: 4:00, 5:00, 12:00; My Tho - Cao Lanh: 9:00, 11:30, 17:00. At first, we also planned to start operating this route from July 21. However, due to the travel needs of people and civil servants, the operating time will be earlier, starting from July 18. The vehicles running this route are 16-seat vehicles and pick up and drop off passengers at agencies in My Tho and at homes in Cao Lanh.
This schedule is designed to suit the working hours of civil servants and public employees; at the same time, it meets the travel needs of people during important time frames during the day.
In addition, the Department of Construction also pays great attention to listening to people's opinions. Accordingly, on July 14, 2025, the Department issued Document 274 on providing information on the fixed bus route operator from Cao Lanh to My Tho and vice versa. This document has been sent to the departments, branches, and sectors of the province and the press, radio, and mass media agencies inside and outside the province to promptly inform civil servants, public employees, and people about the new transportation service - the Cao Lanh - My Tho bus route and vice versa.
Based on actual needs and feedback from people, when passenger traffic increases, Dong Thap Department of Construction will propose that transport units increase the running schedule from the current 2 trips/day to 3 trips/day and invest in vehicles with larger capacity to best meet the travel needs of civil servants, public employees, employees and people.
Regarding ticket prices, the Cao Lanh - My Tho route is listed at 110,000 VND/ticket. This is the price declared by the transport unit and confirmed by the Department of Construction of Dong Thap province, then publicly listed on the vehicle and at the bus stations at both ends of the route to ensure transparency.
Regarding the support policy for civil servants, public employees, and employees, the leader of the Department of Construction said that competent authorities are actively reviewing and developing a comprehensive support policy for civil servants, public employees, and employees of Dong Thap province when they move to work at the administrative center of Dong Thap province (established from July 1, 2025). This policy will include support for travel expenses, accommodation, and other necessary expenses to create the most favorable conditions for civil servants, public employees, and employees of the province to stabilize and feel secure in their work.
In addition to fixed bus routes, the Department of Construction is also operating a flexible bus connection system. Specifically, the bus route from Tien Giang Bus Station - An Huu Bus Station connects with the Cao Lanh - Vinh Long bus route and the bus route from Tien Giang Bus Station - Hau My Bus Station connects with the bus route from Hung Long Bus Station - Thap Muoi Bus Station.
This system of connecting bus routes helps expand the public transport network, creating more options for people to travel between localities.
“Regarding transport infrastructure, the construction industry is planning a systematic and long-term development. Currently, the Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway has been operating stably and serving well the transportation needs. In particular, the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway is expected to be put into operation in 2026. This will be an important breakthrough, significantly shortening travel time and improving the quality of transportation services. In addition, the infrastructure of national highways such as National Highway 1 and National Highway 30 is currently well-suited to serve transportation needs, creating favorable conditions for the operation of bus routes in Dong Thap province,” said Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh.
