China Expressway Corporation wishes to participate in building transport infrastructure in Vietnam

On September 25, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh received and worked with Mr. Vuong Ky Phong - Chairman of Shandong Expressway Group (China) on the potential for cooperation in the field of construction and transport infrastructure.

At the meeting, Mr. Vuong Ky Phong thanked the Minister for his welcome and expressed his wish that Shandong Expressway Corporation would participate in investing in infrastructure and transportation projects in Vietnam, contributing to promoting the friendly relations between the two countries.

Leading Chinese enterprises wish to cooperate

Introducing the group, Mr. Vuong said that Shandong Expressway is a state-owned enterprise, currently on the list of the 500 largest corporations in the world with total assets of about 241 billion USD, ranked 51st among the world's top 250 international contractors (2024). The group is managing and operating more than 9,100 km of highways and 660 km of railways in China, and owns the world's leading modern concrete structure production line.

In Vietnam, Shandong Expressway Group has been present since 2008, participating in the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway project and many other infrastructure and transportation projects. Currently, the group is cooperating with Vietnam Railway Construction Corporation (RCC) to implement the concrete component factory project in Nghe An, and at the same time seeking cooperation opportunities in major railway projects such as Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong route, Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 2, Hanoi Metro Line 5...

"We wish to expand cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises in the fields of infrastructure and transportation and expect to receive support and facilitation from the Minister and the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam," Mr. Vuong Ky Phong emphasized.

Ready to facilitate

Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh congratulated the achievements that Shandong Expressway Corporation has achieved over the years, especially in the field of transport infrastructure development such as highways, railways, seaports, airports, renewable energy and many key projects in China as well as around the world.

The Minister highly appreciated the group's participation in Vietnam with projects such as the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway, the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway, the An Duong Industrial Park infrastructure (Hai Phong)... and acknowledged the positive initial results.

Affirming the great potential for cooperation between the two sides, the Minister believed that with the experience, capacity and available resources, especially on the basis of the Strategic Cooperation Contract recently signed with Vietnam Railway Construction Corporation (RCC), Shandong Expressway Group can expand investment in key infrastructure projects in Vietnam. In particular, the railway sector is a priority, including railway projects connecting with China, inter-regional railways, urban railways in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City...

The Minister encouraged the research group to participate in investing in metro lines under the PPP model. In addition, Shandong can also study and cooperate in developing local road projects and seaport infrastructure according to the plan.
