Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group supplies nearly 20 million tons of coal for electricity production

On June 2, a representative of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) said that in the past 5 months, TKV produced about 17.7 million tons of clean coal, equal to 105% compared to the same period; consumed more than 22.2 million tons; of which, supplied to the electricity industry more than 19.2 million tons.

“TKV strives to produce 3.12 million tons of raw coal in June, consume more than 5 million tons; dig 23.92 thousand meters of tunnels; produce 125 thousand tons of alumina; produce and consume more than 1 billion kWh of electricity,... The consolidated revenue of the whole Group is expected to reach nearly 16.7 trillion VND in June; accumulated revenue for 6 months is estimated to reach 94.57 trillion VND,” said a TKV representative.

According to the assessment of TKV leaders, in May, the Group exceeded its production and business plan, continued to maintain a high production pace. TKV launched Workers' Month - Month of action on occupational safety and hygiene in 2025, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere for labor production among all workers and staff.

In 2024, TKV's finished clean coal output will reach 38.36 million tons, reaching 102.6% of the year-beginning plan, with coal consumption of more than 46 million tons.

In 2025, TKV strives to consume 50 million tons of coal

In May, TKV produced 3.38 million tons of raw coal, 3.6 million tons of clean coal; imported about 1.55 million tons (accumulated in 5 months about 6.25 million tons); excavated about 14.4 million m3 of earth and rock, dug about 24,400 meters of tunnel. Mineral and chemical units continued to maintain production with high output. Alumina production in May is estimated at 131 thousand tons, accumulated in the first 5 months of the year 625 thousand tons; produced 17 thousand tons of Ammonium Nitrate, accumulated in 5 months 81 thousand tons; consumption is estimated at 72 thousand tons,...

Electricity production of TKV's affiliated units in May is estimated at more than 1 billion kWh; accumulated in 5 months is about 4.9 billion kWh; explosive production is estimated at 6.5 thousand tons, explosive supply is estimated at 9.5 thousand tons, accumulated in the first 5 months of the year is estimated at 35 thousand tons of production; estimated consumption of 48 thousand tons of explosives.

Total revenue of the Group in May is estimated at 16.34 trillion VND, equal to 100.8% of the monthly plan; cumulative revenue for 5 months is estimated at 77.88 trillion VND, State budget contribution in May is estimated at 2.7 trillion VND; cumulative revenue for 5 months is 12.3 trillion VND.

In the first 5 months of 2025, the Group's main production and business indicators all increased compared to the same period in 2024: revenue increased by 4%, profit increased by 12%, and payment to the State budget increased by 7%.

According to the assessment of TKV leaders, this June, the situation of storms and rains is expected to increase, which may affect TKV's production and business activities, especially coal and mineral mining units; heavy rain in the month will reduce coal demand for electricity production.

To successfully complete the task, striving to achieve the growth target of more than 8% in 2025 as directed by the Government , TKV leaders have requested affiliated units to focus on implementing well the work of preventing and fighting storms, continuing to maintain the production pace; ensuring production, import, processing and blending, meeting coal demand for the market and for electricity production.

To complete the targets in June and the second quarter, TKV will accelerate production, focus on human resources and equipment to maximize coal output, strictly manage technical and technological indicators, focus on storm prevention, labor safety, environment, and ensure safety in production.
