• LONG JOURNEY WITH HONEY
Ms. Vo Thi Anh Tuyet - Director of Tasabee Company Limited, a business specializing in purchasing, producing and exporting honey, located in Loc Son Industrial Park, Bao Loc City, confided that Tasabee has been operating in the honey making and honey exporting industry for over 20 years. She said that Vietnam is one of the 10 countries with the largest honey production in the world . Vietnamese honey sources are very abundant, from popular types of honey such as coffee flowers, longan flowers, lychee flowers... to leaf honey and many other specialty honeys. In the world , Vietnamese honey is also a popular brand.
Previously, Tasabee set up a factory in Binh Phuoc, which is also quite convenient for beekeeping and convenient for transporting to the seaport, where honey is shipped across the ocean. However, in 2024, Tasabee moved to build infrastructure in Loc Son Industrial Park. Ms. Anh Tuyet confided: “Both my husband and I are from Bao Loc, so although we have been working as bees for many years in the Southeast region, we both want to return to the Lam Dong bee industry. Lam Dong is also a famous bee region, where there is a large number of beekeepers, and coffee honey as well as many other honeys are very good. However, the investment level is quite high, in 2024, Tasabee built a factory in Loc Son Industrial Park and went into production.”
According to Ms. Anh Tuyet, Lam Dong has a cool climate, honey is preserved in a suitable environment, and honey quality is guaranteed. According to Ms. Vo Thi Anh Tuyet, bees harvest and produce honey seasonally, mainly in the dry season, from January to July every year. Therefore, during the harvest season, businesses increase the purchase, processing and storage of honey. The purchased honey output will be produced and exported year-round, supplying the markets of many countries. Tasabee produces up to 20 tons of finished products/day during peak season, exporting an average of 10-15 containers per month, with weights depending on the needs of partners. In 2024, despite many difficulties due to the construction of a new factory as well as challenges in the international market, Tasabee exported over 1,000 tons of honey of all kinds. For a competitive industry like the honey industry, this is a significant number, marking the efforts of a business and the entire community of honey bee farmers.
• KEEP THE FRAGRANCE OF HONEY FLYING FAR AWAY
“A drop of honey, to be exported, must meet many standards. Good control of input materials, eliminating risks are strict requirements of the honey export industry. In particular, many types of antibiotics are banned, honey exported to Europe must have GMA certification, honey exported to Korea must have KFDA... Therefore, Tasabee controls input very strictly, especially food hygiene and safety must be absolutely guaranteed. Tasabee's factory located in Loc Son Industrial Park has an Iso 22,000 certificate, Halal certification for honey exported to Muslim countries", said Ms. Vo Thi Anh Tuyet. According to Ms. Anh Tuyet, Vietnamese honey is very good but has a weakness of high water content. Therefore, when honey is imported to the factory, it must go through a filtering process, then the water content is lowered, the honey is put into a tank and stirred evenly. After that, the honey is left to rest to "purify", not foam and is extracted according to the partner's requirements. Honey is very heavy, 1 liter of honey weighs on average from 1.3 to 1.4 kg. Therefore, when honey is packed into cans or bottles, the multi-ton tanks of honey are balanced by an automatic system.
Ms. Anh Tuyet also commented that foreign markets such as Europe and America prefer crystallized honey. Asian markets such as Korea and China are similar to the Vietnamese market, which does not like crystallized honey. Therefore, when producing, Tasabee must also pay attention to the preferences and tastes of each market.
In 2024, after building the factory, Tasabee was introduced to the Provincial Industrial Promotion Fund by the Lam Dong Industrial Park Management Board. With guidance, Tasabee was able to borrow 800 million VND to invest, with additional funds to upgrade the automatic weighing system. This was a great support, helping Tasabee feel secure in expanding the factory and increasing honey purchases.
Ms. Cao Thi Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Lam Dong province said that beekeeping is one of the developing industries of Lam Dong. Many local enterprises have participated in honey export for many years, bringing farmers a stable income from beekeeping. Therefore, when Tasabee, a large-scale honey exporting enterprise opened a factory in Loc Son Industrial Park, the Department of Industry and Trade supported the enterprise to access loans, contributing to helping the enterprise quickly go into production. Ms. Cao Thi Thanh also assessed that Tasabee quickly stabilized production, widely purchased honey output from Lam Dong farmers as well as honey from farmers in bee regions nationwide, the factory was completed and put into production, bringing drops of sweet honey across the ocean.
