Royal Netherlands Navy ship visits Hai Phong city

Hai Phong - On May 24, the escort ship HNLMS TROMP of the Royal Netherlands Navy, captained by Lieutenant Colonel Yvonne Ban Beusekom, paid a courtesy visit to Hai Phong City.

The visit is within the framework of cooperation between the two countries, thereby contributing to strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two countries in general and the two countries' Armies and Navies in particular.

Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong - Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee - received and worked with the ship's commanding officers. Also attending was Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Vietnam Kees van Baar.

On behalf of the leaders of Hai Phong city, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong shared the city's outstanding socio- economic achievements and Hai Phong's cooperation with Dutch partners to promote the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the Netherlands, including the economic sector.

Currently, in Hai Phong City, Dutch investment projects amount to 302 million USD, focusing on the fields of shipbuilding, manufacturing of marine machinery and equipment, warehouse leasing, animal feed production, trading, and aquatic feed, of which some outstanding projects are: Damen - Song Cam Shipyard Company Limited's shipbuilding project with a total investment of 89.2 million USD, Automotive Vietnam project with an investment of 46.67 million USD.

Regarding exchange, cooperation and trade promotion, since 2008, Hai Phong has organized 4 delegations to visit, study and learn experiences in developing marine economy, seaports and services related to seaports in the Netherlands. The Netherlands and the city of Rotterdam have also organized more than 10 delegations to visit, work and learn about the city's investment environment as well as promote cooperation in the fields of shipbuilding, aviation, maritime, logistics, etc.

Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong expressed his belief that the ship's visit this time will contribute to further strengthening the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the Netherlands in general and the cooperative relationship between the two countries' navies in particular.

On behalf of the delegation, Lieutenant Colonel Yvonne Ban Beusekom - Captain of the Royal Netherlands Navy's HNLMS TROMP Corvette - thanked the city leaders for their warm welcome and expressed her joy at visiting the beautiful and dynamic port city of Hai Phong.

The Royal Netherlands Navy frigate HNLMS TROMP will anchor in Hai Phong from May 24 to 27. During this time, the ship's commanding officers will visit the Vietnam People's Navy Region 1 Command; officers and sailors will have friendly sports with officers and soldiers of Vietnam People's Navy Region 1 and visit historical and cultural sites in the locality.
