Sand dredger breaks anchor, drifts freely on river, threatens Giang Son bridge

The People's Committee of Hoa Son commune said that in recent days, there has been prolonged heavy rain in the commune, the water flow into the Krong Ana river has increased sharply, the water level has risen and the rapid flow has caused two sand suction ships to break their mooring lines and drift freely on the river, causing unsafe conditions.

The situation of a sand dredger breaking its mooring line and drifting near Giang Son Bridge (on National Highway 27) is a dangerous incident that needs to be handled urgently to ensure the safety of traffic works and people's lives. The People's Committee of Hoa Son commune requests the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Construction, the Department of Agriculture and Environment and all levels and sectors to pay attention and support.

According to the People's Committee of Hoa Son commune, at around 9:00 a.m. on November 19, the locality received information that the sand suction vessel of Nam Son Materials Production Cooperative had its mooring line broken, causing the vehicle to drift freely with the water current.

The ship has drifted to the area near Giang Son Bridge (Km24+00, National Highway 27), posing a potential risk to the safety of the bridge and traffic participants, as well as the possibility of a serious incident if not handled promptly.

Upon receiving the news, the Commune People's Committee inspected and recorded the scene and notified the ship owner to coordinate to ensure temporary safety. At the same time, they sent militia and commune police to monitor and guard the surrounding area.

However, due to complex weather conditions and strong currents, the commune is unable to handle or salvage the vehicle itself. If the ship is not controlled, it is very easy to collide with the bridge body and Giang Son bridge pillars, causing unsafe construction; or there is a risk of capsizing, sinking the ship and drifting downstream, obstructing the flow. In particular, it is likely to cause great damage to property and the safety of people living on both sides of the river.

The Commune People's Committee does not have specialized equipment to tow, secure, or handle the ship. The Commune recommends that the Provincial People's Committee direct specialized units to mobilize rescue vehicles, organize towing, and salvage the ship to completely handle the incident.
