Molniya fast attack missile boat is one of the main combat ships of the Vietnam People's Army.

Molniya fast attack missile boat is one of the modern attack missile boats, designed by Almaz Naval Design Institute - Russian Federation. This type of ship is not only modern but also multi-purpose and mobile, built by Ba Son Corporation (General Department of Defense Industry) for the Navy, contributing to enhancing combat strength, firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

Molniya missile boat has a displacement of 560 tons, maximum speed of nearly 70 km/h under standard conditions. Time of operation at sea is 10 days.

For defense, the ship is equipped with AK-176M automatic cannons, with a range of 15 km and an altitude of 11 km to destroy targets in the air, on the water and on land.

Currently, the Molniya fast attack missile boat is the most deployed in the 167th Artillery-Missile Brigade (Naval Region 2). This brigade was established on July 12, 2013, with the mission of protecting the sea, islands, and continental shelf in the south of the Fatherland.

Officers and soldiers of Brigade 167 are proficient in the operation of weapons and technical equipment; have a firm grasp of the technical and tactical features of the weapons and equipment in their ranks; are proficient in tactics at the industry, ship and subordinate levels; as well as receive specialized training according to missions, combat plans, and coordination training between forces, closely following situations of performing tasks at sea and combat readiness, meeting mission requirements in the new situation.

Over the years, Brigade 167 has successfully completed patrol, reconnaissance, and training missions in the Truong Sa and DK-1 areas; participated in the struggle to protect sovereignty in oil and gas exploration missions, upgrading and repairing DK-1 platforms, drills, and live-fire exercises. In particular, it has successfully completed the missile firing mission.
