SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS) in the early morning of March 16 (US time), bringing four new astronauts to the station on a mission to replace two NASA astronauts who have been stuck at the ISS for the past nine months.
About 29 hours after launching at 7:03 pm EST on March 15 from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the Crew Dragon spacecraft with the mission code Crew-10 "docked" with the ISS at 0:04 am on March 16, EST, or 11:04 am Vietnam time.
The crew included two NASA astronauts, Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers, Japanese astronaut Takuya Onishi and Russian cosmonaut Kirill Peskov.
Astronauts Ayers and Peskov are flying into space for the first time, while astronauts McClain and Onishi have been on previous missions. These four astronauts will take over the work at the ISS for about the next 6 months.
If weather conditions are favorable, the Crew Dragon spacecraft is expected to leave the ISS on March 19, bringing two astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who have been stuck at the ISS for the past 9 months, along with two astronauts - NASA's Nick Hague and Russia's Aleksandr Gorbunov - back to Earth.
Crew-10 is the 10th mission in SpaceX's manned space transportation system, and the 11th crewed flight to the space station under NASA's Commercial Crew Program.
During this mission, the new crew will conduct a series of scientific experiments, including combustion tests for future spacecraft designs and research on the effects of space on the human body./.
