On July 4, in the capital city of Havana, the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples (ICAP) held an award ceremony for the writing and drawing contest of Cuban students on the special solidarity and friendship between Cuba and Vietnam, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025) and the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Year 2025.
The Organizing Committee announced that the national competition “Cuba-Vietnam: amistad sin fronteras” (Cuba-Vietnam: Friendship without borders) received 454 works from students aged 6-14 from 59 primary and secondary schools in many provinces and cities of Cuba.
The article “El Tío Ho” (Uncle Ho) by student Mishadai Ramirez Sosa (grade 6, Mártires de Tarará Primary School, Bauta district, Artemisa province) and the work “Vietnam y Cuba, amigos entrañables” (Vietnam and Cuba, close friends) by student Zucelys Herrera Gutiérrez (grade 2, Nguyen Van Troi Primary School, Rodas district, Cienfuegos province) won first prize in the writing and drawing categories.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long highly appreciated the significance of the contest, contributingto educating the country's young generation to understand the brotherhood between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.
Ambassador Le Quang Long also presented symbolic gifts to 17 prize-winning students and 5 air tickets to visit Vietnam from August 4-8 to 2 students who won first prize in writing and drawing, and 3 excellent students of Nguyen Van Troi Primary School, Cerro District, La Habana Capital. These air tickets were sponsored by Da Nang City.

Expressing her feelings upon receiving the award, Zucelys Herrera Gutiérrez said: “I am very happy and very pleased to have won the first prize. I will be able to visit Vietnam.”
Sharing the joy, Fabio Alejandro, a 6th grader at Nguyen Van Troi Primary School, shared: “I am very proud to visit Vietnam, the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh and the motherland of Hero Nguyen Van Troi. I will have the opportunity to interact with Vietnamese people and learn more about Vietnam.”
Meanwhile, ICAP President, Cuban Hero Fernando González Llort commented: “The contest is very important in educating the young generations, the future owners of the country, about the loyal and steadfast relationship between our two brotherly nations”./.
