Welcoming President Jorge Legañoa Alonso and the Prensa Latina delegation to visit and work in Vietnam on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba; through President of Prensa Latina, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his regards to First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez; Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz; President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernández and Cuban leaders.

Affirming that Vietnam will never forget Cuba's support for Vietnam's cause of national independence and the construction and protection of the Fatherland, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that from the first bricks laid by Cuban National Hero José Martí, President Ho Chi Minh, and Cuban Leader Fidel Castro, over the past 65 years, the comradely, brotherly, and special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba has been continuously consolidated and developed extensively at all levels, channels, and fields, with three main pillars, including politics -diplomacy as the foundation, economics-trade-investment as the driving force, and people-to-people exchange as the glue.

The two sides regularly maintain high-level delegation exchanges and contacts, most recently the State visit to Cuba by General Secretary To Lam in 2024 and the official visit to Vietnam by First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez in September 2025, as well as the Prime Minister's meetings with Cuban leaders, opening a new stage of development in bilateral relations.

Vietnam is currently Cuba's second largest trading partner and largest investor from the Asia-Pacific region.

Projects on ensuring food security, producing rice, corn, seafood, etc. have helped the Cuban people overcome difficulties.

Most recently, shortly after launching the “65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship” Program, the Vietnamese people donated more than VND650 billion to support the Cuban people, 10 times higher than the original target; during the Covid-19 pandemic, Cuba promptly provided vaccines to the Vietnamese people.

On the basis of the good relationship between the two countries, the relationship between VNA and Prensa Latina is also especially close, sincere, and always ready to create the best conditions for each other to fulfill their tasks.

Prensa Latina has helped VNA train many generations of Spanish-language reporters and editors, many of whom have become VNA leaders; sent experts to work at VNA; actively reported on the Vietnam-Cuba relationship; promoted the country and people of Vietnam; and reported in support of Vietnam's viewpoints and stances.

In return, VNA has supported Prensa Latina within its capacity in terms of technical equipment for its operations; and provided maximum support in all aspects to Prensa Latina reporters stationed in Hanoi.

Sharing and expressing sympathy for Cuba's difficulties and informing about the situation and strategic development orientation of Vietnam, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always stands side by side with Cuba, shares development experience, and is ready to support Cuba in ensuring food, energy, and telecommunications security.

Analyzing the world situation, each country's revolutionary tasks and challenges as well as the development trends of world media, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that VNA and Prensa Latina continue to cooperate more closely, maintain effective cooperation activities; at the same time, find new cooperation methods, support the improvement of professional expertise, technology, and media infrastructure in line with the trends of the times.

The two agencies need to provide accurate, official, and timely information to the domestic and foreign press system; actively promote the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, which is extremely loyal, pure, and rare in international relations; have a coordination mechanism in information to protect the ideological foundation; detect and handle false information and toxic information that affects the relationship between the two countries; share experiences and coordinate in key information channels.

Affirming that the Government always supports and will create favorable conditions for VNA in implementing cooperation programs and plans with Prensa Latina, the Prime Minister believes that with the close relationship over many generations, VNA and Prensa Latina journalists will continue to effectively implement cooperation contents in the coming time; contributing to strongly promoting the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba.

President of Prensa Latina, Jorge Legañoa Alonso, respectfully thanked the Prime Minister for taking the time to receive the delegation and deeply sympathized with the loss that the Vietnamese people had to endure due to the recent storms and floods.

President Jorge Legañoa Alonso expressed pride in the good relationship between the two countries, including the relationship between the two national news agencies, as President Fidel Castro once said, "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to give its blood!" and vice versa, for Cuba, Vietnam is also willing to give and share, as the recent donation to support Cuba by the Vietnamese people is a testament.

Reviewing the cooperation process between Prensa Latina and VNA, President Jorge Legañoa Alonso affirmed that Prensa Latina will closely coordinate with VNA to more effectively implement cooperation areas as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had commented.
