Delegation from Communication University of China visited and worked at Nhan Dan Newspaper

On the afternoon of December 1, at the headquarters of Nhan Dan Newspaper (71 Hang Trong, Hanoi), a delegation of officials, lecturers and students from the Communication University of China had a working session, learning about the history of formation and development as well as some digital transformation activities of Nhan Dan Newspaper in the propaganda campaigns to celebrate the country's major holidays.

Receiving the delegation of the Communication University of China, on the side of Nhan Dan Newspaper were leaders of the Journalists Association and the Newspaper's professional departments.

At the meeting, comrade Vu Mai Hoang, Head of Technology Department, Chairman of the Journalists Association of Nhan Dan Newspaper, gave an overview of the development history, role, publications... and recent innovations of the Newspaper.

Nhan Dan Newspaper is the Central organ of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the voice of the Party, the State and the people of Vietnam. Throughout its development since its first issue on March 11, 1951, Nhan Dan Newspaper has always been present on all fronts, fulfilling its role as the voice of the Party, the State and the people.

During nearly 40 years of Vietnam's Doi Moi (from 1986 to present), Nhan Dan Newspaper has actively propagated and effectively served the implementation of the Party and State's guidelines, policies and laws, while promptly reflecting the legitimate thoughts and aspirations of all classes of people.

Currently, Nhan Dan Newspaper publishes a variety of publications: Nhan Dan Daily, Nhan Dan Weekend, Nhan Dan Monthly, Thoi Bao and Nhan Dan Electronic. The electronic newspaper has many language versions, including: Vietnamese, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

Nhan Dan Newspaper has representative offices in 34 provinces and cities nationwide and 6 permanent offices abroad, including China. Regarding international cooperation, Nhan Dan Newspaper maintains a close cooperative relationship with Nhan Dan Daily (China), regularly organizing delegations to exchange, learn experiences and share journalism skills.

Regarding development strategy, comrade Vu Mai Hoang said that Nhan Dan Newspaper is orienting towards a multi-platform model, while effectively utilizing social networks to spread information to the public, especially through platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and TikTok.

Comrade Ngo Viet Anh, Director of the Center for Media Development of Nhan Dan Newspaper, said that since 2021, Nhan Dan Newspaper has implemented a digital transformation strategy, gradually becoming a key multimedia press agency in Vietnam. The newspaper has applied artificial intelligence (AI) to its operations and entered the top 10 central press agencies with excellent digital transformation in 2024. The consistent viewpoint throughout the digital transformation process of Nhan Dan Newspaper is to combine modern technology with creative thinking, on the basis of the Newspaper's rich official archive.

In recent years, Nhan Dan Newspaper has continuously implemented special media projects to celebrate major national holidays. Nhan Dan Newspaper's innovative products have been widely welcomed by the people and highly appreciated at domestic and international press and media awards.

A typical example is the communication campaign on the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory with a special information page including more than 3,000 news, articles and supplements integrating QR codes in the panorama, allowing readers to connect with related digital content. This model reflects the change in the way of communication, in which printed newspapers become a bridge, bringing readers to electronic platforms.

Thanks to its visual, interactive way of conveying history, Nhan Dan Newspaper's publications have created a strong social impact. Hundreds of thousands of readers in many localities have lined up to receive the newspaper - a rare phenomenon for print newspapers today.

After listening to the leaders of Nhan Dan Newspaper introduce the development process and professional activities, Mr. Hoang Dien Lam, Deputy Director of the Joint Institute for International Media Studies, Ministry of Education of China, commented that Nhan Dan Newspaper has excellently completed its political mission.

He highly appreciated the creativity and technological application capacity of Nhan Dan Newspaper. Although the main publication of Nhan Dan Newspaper is still a traditional print newspaper, the Newspaper has known how to apply science, technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to develop new publications, in line with modern media trends.

Mr. Hoang Dien Lam expressed his impression with Nhan Dan Newspaper's strategy of constantly expanding its publications into many different languages ​​- this is an outstanding strength, surpassing many other press agencies in Vietnam.

On this occasion, Mr. Hoang Dien Lam also expressed his hope that in the coming time, Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Communication University of China will have the opportunity to exchange delegations, visit and learn experiences in the field of journalism and communication, in order to strengthen cooperation, improve professional capacity and share modern journalism methods.
