Nghe An promotes vocational education associated with sustainable poverty reduction

Nghe An province has effectively implemented the contents of the National Target Program (NTPP) on sustainable poverty reduction in disadvantaged areas, in which nearly 7,900 poor workers have been supported to learn a trade, and many vocational training institutions have had their training capacity enhanced, creating an important foundation to achieve the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and improving people's livelihoods.

Sub-project 1 "Developing vocational education in poor and disadvantaged areas" and Project 4 "Developing vocational education and sustainable employment" under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction are being effectively implemented in Nghe An.

According to the report, up to now, the province has organized vocational training for 7,824/11,500 workers from poor households, near-poor households and households that have just escaped poverty, reaching 68% of the plan. The province also supported equipment and means for training key occupations for 6 vocational training institutions, and completed the construction and revision of 15 sets of training programs at all levels.

Nghe An focuses on improving the quality of vocational education human resources with 650 teachers and managers being trained and improved their capacity. The project also supports vocational training and employment counseling for more than 90,000 people, organizes 28 career guidance groups connecting training facilities with businesses, attracting more than 1,000 students to participate in learning about career orientation.

In the 2021-2025 period, the province was allocated more than 248 billion VND to implement Project 4, of which development investment capital is over 89 billion VND, the rest is career capital. Accumulated disbursement up to July 31, 2025 reached nearly 163 billion VND, equivalent to 65.63% of the capital plan.

According to the assessment of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Nghe An province, Project 4 has expanded the scale and improved the quality of vocational training, strengthened the capacity of vocational training institutions, and effectively supported counseling and career guidance for poor workers. Thereby, people in poor districts have more job opportunities, improved income, and formed stable and sustainable livelihoods.
