Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Vinh Long province Vo Tien Si said that the current poverty reduction has changed due to the merger of old communes and the disappearance of district level, leading to some tasks being transferred to the Economic Department. "The Department of Agriculture and Environment has organized training and professional guidance for localities. However, to ensure consistent, accurate and transparent data, the Provincial Steering Committee for Poverty Reduction has coordinated with departments and branches to directly inspect at the grassroots level, and with localities to compare and unify the implementation process and input data, thereby ensuring a reliable basis for policy advice", Mr. Si emphasized.
The working groups included representatives of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, departments, branches, mass organizations, and the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies. Throughout the review process, the Department of Rural Development and the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Quality Management coordinated to check the documents, compare the procedures, and at the same time guide the localities to supplement and complete the procedures according to regulations.
Through surveys in a number of communes and wards, the working group recorded people's opinions and recommendations; checked hamlet records and lists of poor households proposed by the locality. The results showed that most localities followed the instructions correctly, and the identification and assessment forms for poor households were basically prepared according to standards, ensuring reliability and objectivity.
The working group requested communes and wards to clearly classify each group of poor households, including households with working capacity, plans and roadmaps to escape poverty; households needing social security support due to lack of essential services; and households belonging to ethnic minorities. Based on the classification, localities will develop plans to use resources from the National Target Program on Poverty Reduction, focusing on supporting livelihood models and creating stable income for people.

Currently, Vinh Long province has 124 commune-level units, including 19 wards and 105 communes. The review work is deployed evenly in both urban and rural areas, ensuring that the data closely reflects the real life situation of the people.
From the review results, the province has a solid practical and scientific basis to implement sustainable poverty reduction solutions and comprehensively improve the lives of the people. The Department of Agriculture and Environment will synthesize, advise and report to the Provincial People's Committee on data and implementation results, aiming to complete the poverty reduction target for the period 2025 - 2026.
In the 2025 poverty reduction plan, the province aims to reduce the poverty rate according to the multidimensional poverty standard by 0.5%. The multidimensional poverty standard is not only based on income, but also assesses the level of deprivation in criteria for education, health, housing, clean water and basic living conditions, aiming to synchronously improve the quality of life for disadvantaged households, leaving no one behind.
Deputy Director Vo Tien Si added: The poverty reduction target of 0.5% by 2025 is the province's political determination in the people-centered social security and poverty reduction policy. This is not only a statistical figure, but also a strong commitment to implementing policies to support sustainable livelihoods and ensure social welfare for the people.
After reviewing and investigating, the Provincial and local Steering Committee for Poverty Reduction will review and re-evaluate the entire process, complete the dossier before publicly posting and officially announcing the list of poor households, ensuring democracy, transparency and compliance with regulations.
For the 2026 poverty reduction target, the province will continue to evaluate and review to effectively link policies on livelihoods, preferential credit, vocational training, housing support and access to social services, aiming at substantial and sustainable poverty reduction before 2030.
