Causes of cold hands and feet

There are many causes of cold hands and feet, especially in winter, such as:

  • Iron deficiency. This is most common in the palms and soles of the feet. Many people even experience numbness or tingling, which is uncomfortable and painful. Without enough iron in the blood, the body will send oxygen to the brain and heart first, while some capillaries or peripheral nerves on the body's surface will not get enough oxygen, leading to poor blood circulation and cold hands and feet.

In winter, many people experience frostbite in their limbs even though they wear socks and thick gloves.

  • Lupus. This disease affects the small blood vessels in the skin of the hands and feet. This interferes with the normal movement of blood. As a result, the hands and feet become cold.
  • Low blood pressure. Excessive stress is also the cause of cold hands and feet. The body of a person who is often anxious has a natural reaction of producing the hormone adrenaline, which reduces blood flow to the outermost areas of the body. This leads to the phenomenon of vascular congestion, not enough to nourish the cells in the body, especially in the hands and feet.
  • Diabetes. People with diabetes often have high blood sugar levels. This causes the blood vessels to narrow, reducing the amount of blood that reaches the cells. In addition to cold feet, people with diabetes may also have other symptoms such as tingling or pins and needles, numbness or burning pain in the feet and toes.

There are many ways to treat cold feet with easy-to-find herbs available at home, typically:
