Young tennis player Le Tien Anh had an impressive start in the qualifying round - "Roland Garros Junior Series by Renault 2026" - Southeast Asia - East Asia - South Asia, when he excellently defeated the second seed from India, Ranvir Singh.
In today’s opening match (August 18), Tien Anh faced the second seeded Indian player and was dragged to a third set by his opponent. The young Vietnamese player still showed his mettle to win 2-1 (6-3, 5-7, 6-2), thereby creating a big surprise in the opening round.
Tien Anh had a smooth opening match.
This achievement continues Tien Anh's impressive form in recent times. Previously, he won the men's singles and doubles championship at the 2024 ITF U14 Asia, and was crowned both the men's singles and doubles at the 2025 ATF U14 in Binh Duong .
With the above achievements, Tien Anh is the only athlete from Southeast Asia qualified and considered by the Organizing Committee to participate in this tournament.
"Roland Garros Junior Series by Renault" is a tournament organized by the French Tennis Federation (FFT) in collaboration with the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), aiming to find outstanding U16 talents from Southeast Asia, East Asia and South Asia.
The tournament takes place in China and lasts until August 23.
Players who pass this qualifying round will participate in the Asian finals, with the opportunity to win a wild card to the "Roland Garros Junior Championships 2026" - the only Grand Slam tournament on clay courts.
