Previously, this monitor lizard was received by Hue City Forest Protection Department from Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hieu in Thuy Van Ward (Hue City) who voluntarily surrendered it with the wish to release it back into the natural environment.

The monitor lizard is a rare, endangered wild animal listed in the Vietnam Red Book and needs to be strictly preserved and protected according to the provisions of law.
