Thailand is full of confidence entering the 2023 Asian Cup Round of 16 match against Uzbekistan. In the group stage, coach Masatada Ishii's team played uncomfortably and did not concede any goals.
They continued to carry that style of play into the match against Uzbekistan. However, the Central Asian team also asserted their class with some sharp combinations.

In the 36th minute, Azizbek Turgunboev took advantage of Theerathon Bunmathan's misjudgment to open the scoring for Uzbekistan.
In the second half, substitute player Supachok scored a beautiful equalizer for Thailand after finishing outside the penalty area.
However, the Central Asian team always has names that know how to make a difference. Abbosbek Fayzullaev is one of them. Uzbekistan's most highly-rated player skillfully maneuvered, before scoring to make it 2-1 for Uzbekistan in the 65th minute.
In the following minutes, Thailand launched a very strong attack. However, Uzbekistan played carefully and did not give the "War Elephants" a chance to penetrate the net.
With this result, Thailand has stopped at the 2023 Asian Cup. Southeast Asia no longer has any representatives in the tournament in Qatar. Meanwhile, Uzbekistan reached the quarterfinals and met the host Qatar.
