Ms. Hiep started her volunteer work completely personally. Seeing that there were many unfortunate lives around her, she learned about them and supported them with her own abilities, from money, goods to time. Her sincere heart touched many people, gradually forming a wider volunteer network.
In 2019, she met Ms. Le Thi Nguyen and other like-minded members, from which the Ha Long Charity Club was formed, operating completely voluntarily, without an official organization. Initially, the club only supported a few particularly difficult cases with contributions from Ms. Hiep's family. Later, she expanded her appeal on social networks, receiving the trust and support of many benefactors.
The difference in her volunteer journey is her perseverance and focus on sustainability. She goes to the place to learn, connecting donors with those in need. Gifts are carefully prepared; meals for children in the highlands are carefully considered in each portion. The club also organizes cultural activities and magic shows for the children, things that seem small but deeply touch the emotions.
Among the most meaningful activities, Ms. Hiep is most passionate about supporting the construction of "Charity Houses". For example, the family of Mr. Le Van Hiem (48 years old, Lien Vi commune, now Lien Hoa ward), 3 generations, 9 people, living in a dilapidated level 4 house. Mr. Hiem is sick, 2 children are disabled, income is unstable, the family has been poor for many years. At the end of 2023, thanks to the coordination of the Provincial Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and TMC and the local government, his family was supported to build a new house of 80m², with a total cost of 400 million VND, of which Ms. Hiep and the members of the Club supported 60 million VND.
That is just one of many houses supported by the Ha Long Charity Club over the years. “The house is not only a place to shelter from the sun and rain, but also a support for the poor to stabilize their lives and have more confidence to move forward. However, that wish does not always come true, there are cases where it is so difficult, there is no legal land to build on...”, Ms. Hiep confided.
From 2021 to present, Ms. Hiep and the Club members have sponsored 4 orphaned students (500,000 VND/student/month); supported the construction of 4 "Charity Houses"; organized Mid-Autumn Festival programs for students in remote areas, with a total value of nearly 800 million VND.
Ms. Pham Thi Hiep and her friends are still quietly sowing seeds of love. Her volunteer journey is a testament to the power of kindness when it is aroused and spread, creating connections between hearts, bringing hope to the disadvantaged and inspiring the community.
