Visit and give gifts to Phuoc Dien Buddhist Temple on the occasion of Buddha's Birthday

Ca Mau Newspaper On the morning of May 3, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions established a delegation to visit and present gifts at Phuoc Dien Buddhist Temple (Phong Dien Commune, Tran Van Thoi District) on the occasion of Buddha's Birthday 2025.

Attending the event were Mr. Huynh Ngoc Sang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Most Venerable Thach Ha, Head of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Chairman of the Provincial Association of Patriotic Buddhist Monks and Nuns; representatives of departments, branches, sectors and local authorities.

In a joyful and solemn atmosphere, Most Venerable Thach Ha, Head of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Chairman of the Provincial Association of Patriotic Monks and Monks, read the message of the 2569th Buddha's Birthday Celebration of the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Most Venerable Thich Phuoc Loi, Alternate Member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Executive Committee, Head ofthe Education Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, read the speech of the 2569th Buddha's Birthday Celebration of the Most Venerable Elder, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

Venerable Thach Ha presented a flower basket from the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to Phuoc Dien Buddhist Recitation Hall.

Mr. Huynh Ngoc Sang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Ms. Quach Kieu Mai, Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, presented gifts to Phuoc Dien Buddhist Recitation Hall.

Since its establishment, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in general and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ca Mau province in particular have always promoted the spirit of harmony and solidarity, mobilizing monks, nuns and Buddhists to actively contribute to the cause of innovation and development of the country and the province.

The dignitaries, monks, nuns, and Buddhists of Ca Mau province, including the dignitaries and Buddhists of Phuoc Dien Buddhist Temple, have made many contributions to the development of preschool education, social protection, vocational training, medical examination and treatment for the poor, building Great Unity Houses, preventing HIV/AIDS, protecting the environment, preventing and responding to climate change, building rural traffic bridges, etc., contributing to the locality's good implementation of social security work in recent times.

On this occasion, Chairman of the District People's Committee Tran Van Thoi presented Certificates of Merit to 12 Buddhists of Phuoc Dien Buddhist Temple with outstanding achievements in performing social security and charity work.

The representative of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha presented the Certificate of Merit from the Standing Committee of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to 14 individuals and groups who have made many contributions to Buddhist affairs, social welfare and guiding Buddhists to practice and study at Phuoc Dien Buddhist Recitation Hall in the period of 2020-2025.

Vesak is the most important Buddhist festival held to commemorate the birth of Buddha Shakyamuni.

Venerable monks and representatives offered incense before the Buddha altar.

Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers perform the Buddha bathing ceremony.

This year's Buddha's Birthday celebration of Buddhists took place in a joyful and excited atmosphere of people across the country celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), towards the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

In addition, 2025 is the year the VBS was approved by the International Committee for the United Nations Day of Vesak (ICDV) to organize the Vesak Festival, with the participation of over 1,200 international delegates from 85 countries and territories./.
